Re: England U20s
Hi all,
Apologies I haven't been particularly prolific on the forums since taking over earlier this season
Pleasingly, I can say that all efforts were focussed on managing the team because things have gone quite well. We finished second (4-1) in the first OD Tour in Div 3, securing promotion to Div 2. We matched the 4-1 record in one and only T20 Tour (Div 2) but this was only enough to finish 3rd as we missed out on promotion by 0.1 NRR. Our good form continued in Div 2 OD as again we went 4-1 to secure top spot and promotion to Div 1
So a 12-3 record overall with 2 promotions, could have easily been 3/3 promotions. I find it amusing that three 4-1 records ended up with 2nd, 3rd and 1st place finished respectively
It's a case of job done as qualification for the T20 WC was secured in the process. We're reviewing selection now as we've been given slow dry hard flat uneven pitches for the group stages, scaring the living daylights out of our strong medium & spin attack...
Cheers,
Montyh

Re: England U20s
Good Morning Everyone!
Well, it looks as though I am back with England again and now everything has been officially confirmed the hard work starts now. The squad at first glance is looking fairly ordinary and it will be a tough couple of seasons. Despite that, I am confident that we can still improve and make England tough to beat.
Well done to Monty and the previous team. After seeing what they have had to work with, they did a very good job.

Re: England U20s
Before I look into the two T20 friendlies I wanted to make a quick announcement about training.
In order for England under 20 and the senior team to reach the desired levels needed for success we need to coordinate our training programmes appropriately.
1) If you support England then please run a lavish academy minimum if possible. Superior is great but it won't quite help us get the players to the desired targets with their skills.
2) Train fielding to reliable at 16.
3) Once fielding has hit reliable go back to primary and technique to outstanding.
4) By the time a player hits 21 they need to have a minimum of outstanding primary and technique. If they have higher primary and technique in addition to fielding then even better.
5) If you do not have the desired academy levels please sell your player so dedicated England supporters can help the national teams more effectively.

Re: England U20s
Since my appointment as Under 20 manager we have played two friendlies.
Sri Lanka posted 181 off their 20 overs on a flat in sunny weather which was definitely chaseable. Unfortunately we fell three runs short of achieving our goal of victory. Travis Curtis the pick of the bowlers with 2-24 off his 4 overs. Boardman (26), Turich (39), Spadge (25) and Robbins (23) all got starts but couldn't really provide us with the kind of innings that wins games.
Again Pakistan it was a different story. We batted first this time instead of bowling and we posted a total of 146-2 off our 20 overs on a sticky in overcast conditions. Hallebone's unbeaten 59 with good contributions from Boardman (27) Fronckensteen (30) and Perrins (28*) helped us to a good total given the conditions. We then proceeded to bowl Pakistan all out for 105 with Pickett taking 3-14 and Ironmonger 3-20 from their allotted overs.
Overall an encouraging start as we begin our preparation stage for the T20 tour on the 16th February.
