Endurance doesn't seem to get discussed much. There is plenty about primaries, technique, power and fielding. Apparently it has no impact on summaries but it does impact the duration of their performance in a match. Well that is my interpretation anyway and I'm interested in your take on it.
Is a spectacular summary batsman with reliable endurance a better choice than an outstanding summary with exceptional endurance?
I expect most people don't give it a thought and select the spectacular summary.
Whats your thoughts on how much endurance affects a players summary or performance throughout a 50 over match?

Re: Endurance - The unmentioned skill and its role
I guess it depends on the player and how endurance affects how they play. I'd say definitely more impactful on bowlers than bats for the simple reason that bowlers generally need to bowl all of their 10 overs while batters will do their job and generally just get out to bring a fresh bat in.
Personally, I think it needs to be more impactful as well (especially with fielding) as have some sort of representation in the Match Ratings.

For mine, part of what makes judging endurance so tricky is that it plays a role outside of games as well, in determining how quickly your player recovers from fatigue. Over the course of a season, you really notice the difference between players with high endo and those who are a bit lacking.
It also doesn't contribute to wages, so there is that minor benefit to focusing on it a little more.

I do think it affects summaries - but have no proof. My view is that I can have similar players (primary / tech etc) and the one with higher endurance will have the higher (or the same) summary. I have also seen players on fitness training jump a summary level (of course that could be the small power add).
That said, I do look at endurance quite a bit - particularly in the U20s. Youngsters playing in a 50 over Nat game really do need the extra endurance. Whilst I won't ask anyone to train fitness in the U20 Nats, my selections will take endurance into account.

Higher endurance means they start the match with more energy giving them a longer period at peak performance before starting to tire during a match. Its like that in all conditions but most noticeably on a hot day.

And they recover quicker.
There is a change mooted for this, too; it wasn't going to be part of the discussions, but may be squeezed in while we are discussing things.
