Its not just affiliates in SA. its a world wide thing and I guess its an attempt at a solution where the "random" allocation of nationality will produce a more balanced spread. I guess if you want to track down the best academies and pay them to recruit for SA you might have some luck. I preferred the existing way but always felt recruits should match the country where they first play.(similar to state of origin). Whether you recruit 600 or 6000 per season for a country the end result is a National Squad of 30 players capable winning a few matches. For all the excess players countries like Aus, Eng and India get, they still don't produce excessively superior sides season after season. I don't think the upcoming change will deliver the right result, its wait and see.
