Interest in International cricket

Okay I'm gonna stop assuming. It could be interesting to make a poll and see how many people prefer "separate fatigue systems no prizemoney" or "keep current system, get prizemoney" because that tends to be the practical issue.

Thats always the sticking point, people want to keep their players and get the compensation too

lol at people just wanting the best of both worlds - for me it reduces realism and managerial awareness if players are available for clubs despite being called up for international fixtures

A poll would be interesting. I personally think the NAT scene adds another enjoyable managing element. It can be frustrating but an enjoyable aspect to juggle.

Either way, I think rather than kill off NTs, we're better off finding ways to get more managers interested.

NATs is fringe when it comes to FTP, it probably always will be a fringe part of FTP. And that's okay. If FTP as a whole is healthy and growing then the NAT involvement will also grow.

I also believe part of the reason behind lack of numbers when election time arrives is due to how many elections are somewhat known in advance once someone established runs. And whilst the overall game numbers are where they are you can't really force your way in, there's not enough votes to go around.

Once upon a time I was interested in international cricket on FTP , but that was MANY years ago . Most new managers are starstruck in becoming an international manager , but eventually that wears off and interest disappears.
Look at results of recent YTH elections think it was 15 out of 20 managers got voted in UNAPPOSED. International managers think they are Special , they get to play extra games ..FREE ..they get to pick from the best players in their country , and do not care about the damage it does to the teams losing a player.
Having a player taken out of your squad Might cost you to lose your next 2 matches . Losing 4 points can mean .
1.Possible relegation
2.Missing out on promotion
3.Missing out on a top 4 place ,, no prizemoney.
Personally I got no interest in internat cricket managers or results (never looked at them)

Whilst this is completely true, it is also true that the $20,000/$50,000 tour compensation could be the difference in avoiding bankruptcy and being able to keep your best player. FTP is a management game and the management of missing touring National players is currently a requirement of all managers.

It is also worth noting that National Managers are not immune from losing touring players either.

I joined this game to be a manager of MY team . I like to win same as everybody else .I pay money into the game and try to build up my team ..
We all think when we start , this looks easy and spend spend spend , then it hits you . MONEY plays a massive part in this game .
My aim at start of season is to have my 4 teams all in top4 places .Have money to go into next season .

Along comes international manager and destroys me takes away my top Snr player . I lose matches whilst he is away and miss out on a top 4 place .
same happens with my yth team , now completly wiped out not much to go into new season with ..

You think that is FAIR ? I DO NOT completely destroyed a seasons efforts.

I hate international managers , do whatever they like , lap up the glory if the Team wins and I as along with other managers have to accept it .
Start the next season with little money . and guess what it can happen all over again next season ..

Just curious as to who the unknown names are? Personally, I recognise every single poster in this thread...

For the record, nobody asked me to post here and I don't know who Boscorp is (though I have seen the name around the forums and discord before). I have not overly engaged with Forums/Discord previously but have had more time lately and thought I would have a read and be more involved.

I think MOD-MrMoose's comment of "It is also worth noting that National Managers are not immune from losing touring players either." is pretty accurate. I am an assistant for the Scottish team and our manager/assistants often have at least 4-5 of the touring 18 because we all have top academies and only pull Scotland.

So international managers and assistants are also experiencing the negative of losing our players for those important club matches - noting that my senior team is still growing so perhaps at senior level it hurts more(?), I am not sure.

In other news, I've just picked up three new assistants so there is fresh interest in the Nat side of things...

I've been playing for about 48 seasons including a couple as an assistant and 8 as a national manager. I've also had a few players (8-10 maybe) who have gone on a tour. This has been mixed in with bouts of just looking after my club. I think I've played a variety of ways over the time. That includes periods of ignoring the international side. I've spent more seasons playing with my club in mind than anything but I learnt the most when I got interested in the national sides. From there I learnt how to manage a squad to suit my league rather than national standard and played somewhat successfully that way for a number of seasons. Currently I am putting my interest in my academy and plan on trying to develop some good quality players rather than trophies for my club. I currently enjoy the way fatigue, form and player availability are merged.
