Irish League Youth Cup – S62

Post by crackit » Sat Jun 14, 2025 11:25 am

Welcome to the Irish League Youth Cup.

The 56 teams in tiers 1-3 of the Irish League, plus the 8 highest ranked sides in tier 4 automatically have a place in the draw on accepting.

Other Division 4 sides have the chance to fill any places not taken up: then later, all Division 3 and 4 sides not in round two of the cup be invited to compete in the Irish League Youth Plate.

Teams are invited in ranking order as the FTP coding uses the order of invitation to determine who does, and does not, make the draw should a cut need to be made. This ensures the above rules are applied and the strongest competition possible. Note: Despite being a T20 competition, One Day rankings are used.

Competition Details:
  • It is a knock-out cup.
  • There will be 32 or 64 teams, depending on how many accept.
  • The draw is random (there is no seeding).
  • Games played are T20 friendlies, so will not impact your players’ fatigue in league matches.
  • Games are played on a Wednesday.
  • Local weather conditions are applied and the pitch prepared is at the whim of the home team’s groundskeeper (so randomly selected).
  • Entry is free. In return we ask that those who can please consider pulling Ireland youth players as their contribution; but this is voluntary and not enforced.
  • Both finalists win an award of Pavilion membership.
Our aim in running is to:
  • Develop a sense of identity, belonging and community to the Irish league setup.
  • Support the Irish national side by encouraging youth pulls where possible.
  • Have fun.
  • The cup also offers sides in lower divisions the chance to test themselves against higher league opposition.
We would love you to hit that accept button and please come join us.

Re: Irish League Youth Cup – S62

Trí chonair na héiginnteachta
I am trusting Google to have given me the same translation as last year.

Quarter-by-quarter
First quarter
Last year's beaten semi-finalists, #9 Hunslet Parkside C.C. ( Youth 1.1 ) and #1 Ella XI ( Youth 3.4 ) are scheduled to meet in round two; assuming they get past #36 Ireland Lions ( Youth 3.2 ) and #34 Rocket City Trash Pandas ( Youth 3.2 ) as expected. #16 The New Originals ( Youth 2.1 ) are likely to stand between the winner and a return to the last four.

#40 Rebel Spinners ( Youth 2.2 ) v #27 Meeting Mr Miandad ( Youth 2.1 ) Meeting Mr Miandad won by 35 runs
#16 The New Originals ( Youth 2.1 ) v #26 Crzy Tornadoes ( Youth 3.2 ) The New Originals won by 8 wickets
#36 Ireland Lions ( Youth 3.2 ) v #9 Hunslet Parkside C.C. ( Youth 1.1 ) Hunslet Parkside C.C. won by 7 wickets
#1 Ella XI ( Youth 3.4 ) v #34 Rocket City Trash Pandas ( Youth 3.2 ) Ella XI won by 57 runs

As predicted, #9 Hunslet Parkside C.C. ( Youth 1.1 ) and #1 Ella XI ( Youth 3.4 ) faceoff in round two; and #16 The New Originals ( Youth 2.1 ) are still most likely to play the winner.

#27 Meeting Mr Miandad ( Youth 2.1 ) v #16 The New Originals ( Youth 2.1 ) The New Originals won by 31 runs
#9 Hunslet Parkside C.C. ( Youth 1.1 ) v #1 Ella XI ( Youth 3.4 ) Hunslet Parkside C.C. won by 26 runs

Two straightforward wins for Hunslet and the New Originals.

#16 The New Originals ( Youth 2.1 ) v #9 Hunslet Parkside C.C. ( Youth 1.1 ) Hunslet Parkside C.C. won by 25 runs

Lots of runs and few wickets on a flat pitch: Winslow Williams hit 112 not out in a losing cause for the Originals whilst Henry McBurnie (85) and Mark McDermott (73*) constructed what proved to be an insurmountable total for Hunslet.

Second quarter
Includes three top-ten ranked sides: #2 Shaktar Senseless ( Youth 2.1 ), #3 Vegas Venoms ( Youth 1.1 ) and #8 kato xi ( Youth 1.1 ). #20 Donna's Kebabs ( Youth 2.2 ) is likely to be the other first round winner.

#2 Shaktar Senseless ( Youth 2.1 ) v #31 Celtic Wolves ( Youth 3.3 ) Shaktar Senseless won by 40 runs
#8 kato xi ( Youth 1.1 ) v #39 Dunbrody CC ( Youth 3.1 ) kato xi won by 52 runs
#32 Applewood Crossing ( Youth 3.4 ) v #3 Vegas Venoms ( Youth 1.1 ) Vegas Venoms won by 6 wickets
#20 Donna's Kebabs ( Youth 2.2 ) v #42 North Cardiff Cosmos ( Youth 3.4 ) Donna's Kebabs won by 10 wickets

This quarter is going to be seriously contested as #2 Shaktar Senseless ( Youth 2.1 ) play #8 kato xi ( Youth 1.1 ) and #3 Vegas Venoms ( Youth 1.1 ) meet #20 Donna's Kebabs ( Youth 2.2 ); as predicted.

#2 Shaktar Senseless ( Youth 2.1 ) v #8 kato xi ( Youth 1.1 ) kato xi won by 7 wickets
#3 Vegas Venoms ( Youth 1.1 ) v #20 Donna's Kebabs ( Youth 2.2 ) Vegas Venoms won by 13 runs

A flat wicket that provided big innings. Martin Dowell scored a Senseless 103 not out, then Robert O'Flanagan 76 not out contributed most to the kato's winning chase. Enoch Tichana (111*) and Donal Slattery (41*) put together a total for Vegas that the Kebabs couldn't match.

#8 kato xi ( Youth 1.1 ) v #3 Vegas Venoms ( Youth 1.1 ) kato xi won by 6 wickets

Not now kato! Vegas looked like favourites to us but were caught out by a shock ambush. kato were behind the required rate for much of the innings but a 102 partnership between Ciaran Magee (63) and Anthony Strahan (57*) brought them back on track ahead of Gavan O'Mahoney scoring the winning single with just two balls to spare.

Third quarter
#6 Spinney Wanderers ( Youth 1.1 ) and #7 Chester Ducks ( Youth 3.4 ) would expect to progress against #23 Corleone ( Youth 2.2 ) and
#35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ) respectively to set up an almighty second round matchup between the S60 and S61 winners .

#23 Corleone ( Youth 2.2 ) v #6 Spinney Wanderers ( Youth 1.1 ) Corleone won by 8 runs
#35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ) v #7 Chester Ducks ( Youth 3.4 ) Woodlands CC won by 9 runs
#24 kilkenny ( Youth 2.1 ) v #33 Trinity ( Youth 3.3 ) kilkenny won by 58 runs
#22 Ballingeary Lakers ( Youth 2.2 ) v #43 Spingleberry ( Youth 3.2 ) Ballingeary Lakers won by 8 wickets

Not predicted was #6 Spinney Wanderers ( Youth 1.1 ) and #7 Chester Ducks ( Youth 3.4 ) tumbling out of the cup to #23 Corleone ( Youth 2.2 ) and
#35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ). The two upset winners, who both beat previous Youth Cup champions, will be in opposition in Round Two. #24 kilkenny ( Youth 2.1 ) v #22 Ballingeary Lakers ( Youth 2.2 ) is also a great matchup in what looks like a another competitive quarter.

#23 Corleone ( Youth 2.2 ) v #35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ) Woodlands CC won by 24 runs
#24 kilkenny ( Youth 2.1 ) v #22 Ballingeary Lakers ( Youth 2.2 ) Ballingeary Lakers won by 5 runs

80 runs for Bernhard Fahey helped Woodlands establish a score of 208-5 that Corleone's chase fell away from six over out as Wrist spinner Dinny Buckley took 3 wickets for 24. Ballingeary's Nick Sharrock carried his bat for 84 in their score of 171-3. Kilkenny's were ahead of the comparison after nine overs but also drifted after spinner Bhupendra Budhathoki nicked Oswell Turner's edge for Dillon Rooney to pocket at first slip.

#35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ) v #22 Ballingeary Lakers ( Youth 2.2 ) Woodlands CC won by 4 runs

Woodlands, winners of the last two seasons' Youth Plate, completed a trio of wins against higher ranked opposition to make the Youth Cup semi-finals. Alan Casey (66) and Bernhard Fahey (46) helped Woodlands to a total of 178. Lakers' Campbell Adair made 65 not out in response, but they fell just four runs short. Wrist spinner Dinny Buckley took 3 wickets for 37 and Sam Ennis bowled a tidy couple of overs for just nine runs that look like they may have proved the difference in a tight game.

Fourth quarter
S59 Winners #5 The WaddiWallas ( Youth 1.1 ) appear in the match of the round against #10 Blwe Scavengerz ( Youth 2.2 ) and will likely have to get past last year's beaten finalists, #13 Staindrop Lordies ( Youth 2.2 ), and #12 Billericay Bluebirds ( Youth 2.1 ) to progress to the semi-final.

#12 Billericay Bluebirds ( Youth 2.1 ) v #30 The Cross Lances ( Youth 3.1 ) The Cross Lances won by 6 wickets
#29 Weston Super Mud CC ( Youth 2.2 ) v #46 Belmont CC ( Youth 3.3 ) Weston Super Mud CC won by 62 runs
#10 Blwe Scavengerz ( Youth 2.2 ) v #5 The WaddiWallas ( Youth 1.1 ) Blwe Scavengerz won on countback (wickets fallen)
#21 The Hurlutown Partnership ( Youth 3.4 ) v #13 Staindrop Lordies ( Youth 2.2 ) Staindrop Lordies won by 7 wickets

There looks to be another pair of close matches in the bottom quarter. #10 Blwe Scavengerz ( Youth 2.2 ) v #13 Staindrop Lordies ( Youth 2.2 ), and #30 The Cross Lances ( Youth 3.1 ) v #29 Weston Super Mud CC ( Youth 2.2 ). The Scavengerz and Lancers were both upset winners in the previous round.

#30 The Cross Lances ( Youth 3.1 ) v #29 Weston Super Mud CC ( Youth 2.2 ) The Cross Lances won by 7 wickets
#10 Blwe Scavengerz ( Youth 2.2 ) v #13 Staindrop Lordies ( Youth 2.2 ) Staindrop Lordies won by 2 wickets

Riddhiman Iyer (2-17) and Tshepo Matsikenyeri (2-21) very much profited for Staindrop on a pitch very much made for the bowlers. Having contained the Scavengerz to 86 for 6 the Lordies barely scrambled to 87 for 8 with two balls in hand. Meanwhile the Cross Lances won another low-scoring battle with relative ease.

#30 The Cross Lances ( Youth 3.1 ) v #13 Staindrop Lordies ( Youth 2.2 ) Staindrop Lordies won by 6 wickets

Last year's beaten finalists, Staindrop Lordies, made it to the semi-final at more of a leap than a canter. Juandre Tait topped scored with 55.

Semi-finals
#9 Hunslet Parkside C.C. ( Youth 1.1 ) v #8 kato xi ( Youth 1.1 ) Rivalry 13-21
#35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ) v #13 Staindrop Lordies ( Youth 2.2 ) Rivalry 0-0

Hunslet and kato looks much the strongest of the two games; Woodlands run through the competition may end at the hands of the Lordies.

Welcome to

  • #34 Rocket City Trash Pandas ( Youth 3.2 )
