Very promising player and with spin friendly wickets this tour I thought he was worth a punt. Hope he can have a great tour!

U20 T20 World Cup update

Game 1 Vs England
De Border stood tall and defiant bashing out a great 83 runs off 53 balls with some fine cameo appearances by Hawkins & Van Gerwin. However, with a few overs light on runs, we were always going to be short of comfortable and would need the bowlers to work a miracle. As it happened, England stayed on top of run rate despite a fine bowling display by paceman Van Katwijk, but it wasn't enough with England running out victors with 5 balls to spare.

Game 2 - Vs Sri Lanka
On a slow pitch and without master blaster De Border, our batsmen failed to get any rhythm despite all reaching double figures. No one could settle in and eek out a decent innings. With a steady flow of wickets, the 129 total looked 10 runs short. Sri Lanka got off to a good start and we were under the pump for most of the match as they reach 100 with the loss of only 1 wicket. Despite Van Katjwik and Flens grabbing late wickets, Sri Lanka reeled in the total with 7 balls to spare.

Game 3 - Vs South Africa
On another flat deck with master blaster De Border back, despite losing an early cheap wicket Van Zandeek (55 from 37) and De Border (70 from 47) both rose to the challenge to help post an imposing total of 184. South Africa started confidently but were always behind the run rate as it slowly crept towards 14 per over required in the last over. This was too much for them and we finally got a deserved win. Once again Flens bowled well with 2/34 whilst Ovries bowled tighter than cricketgodmates hot pink spandex pants with 0/26, economy rate of 6.50. Well done team.

Ireland U20 Netherlands U20
Batting - Top Order 10,682 10,301
Batting - Middle Order 8,879 9,410
Batting - Tail 4,815 4,603
Bowling - Seam 8,778 9,552
Bowling - Spin 9,643 9,760
Fielding/Keeping 9,956 11,278
Overall 168,181 174,669

Game 1 - Ireland win by 3 wickets. A tough one to lose. Lost some early wickets, but total should have been enough to defend. We were well poised up to the 18th over but then could not find another wicket until 37th over. Again we clawed ourselves into the contest but a late flurry of runs was enough to get Ireland home.

Netherlands U20 Zimbabwe U20
Batting - Top Order 10,089 10,079
Batting - Middle Order 8,328 8,946
Batting - Tail 4,610 4,194
Bowling - Seam 8,536 8,962
Bowling - Spin 11,044 0
Fielding/Keeping 11,319 9,779
Overall 166,652 162,833

Game 2 - Netherlands win by 79 runs. We got off to a great start with Lenferink and De Border setting up well for a decent total. Cameo roles by Dawkins, Kraaij & Van Gerwin ensured a big total of 274. Left Arm Medium pacer Van Rijk got us off to a stormer with 2 early wickets and Zimbabwe were also on the back foot even when they steadied the ship during the middle overs, they were always under pressure. De Zwaan and Veldboom, both bowled well at the end to secure a very good win.

England U20 Netherlands U20
Batting - Top Order 9,948 9,642
Batting - Middle Order 9,305 9,165
Batting - Tail 3,933 3,774
Bowling - Seam 9,666 8,953
Bowling - Spin 10,401 10,307
Fielding/Keeping 11,327 10,445
Overall 173,333 165,364

Game 3 - Netherlands win by 30 runs. In a do or die match, helplessly out rated, team managers prepared a great game plan which played out a treat. Despite the early loss of wickets, Van Den Bergh put his head down along with Hawkins to bat sensibly, before allrounder Cordy came in with a magnificent game winning innings of 68 not out. Despite capitulating towards the end with a succession of cheap wickets, a nice total of 209 was posted. In reply, England just never got going with any substantial innings, and with spinners Baay and De Zwaan bowling superbly, Netherland came away with a brilliant win and to put the rest of the league on notice.

Netherlands U20 Sri Lanka U20
Batting - Top Order 9,500 10,294
Batting - Middle Order 8,343 8,808
Batting - Tail 4,386 4,020
Bowling - Seam 8,538 9,214
Bowling - Spin 10,225 10,485
Fielding/Keeping 10,981 10,223
Overall 163,540 169,027

Game 4 - Netherlands won by 48 runs. In another do or die match and being out rated, Lenferink starts strongly, he has gone beyond expectations after a pitiful friendly season of games, along with Karaaij who posted a brilliant 72, set the innings up. At the back end of the overs, with the run rate floundering, all rounder Stekelenburg and Jansson posted quickfire runs to ensure a decent total of 226 was posted. Once again Van Rijk got the team off to a great start bowling beautifully and along with the other bowlers, justpiled on the pressure and bowled out Sril Lanka in the 44th over. Another fantastic performance by all.

FINAL GAME VS Netherlands Vs Pakistan on a slow deck - Pakistan remain undefeated and they will be clear favorites. Netherland are on the cusp of qualifying into One Day 2. It's a massive match for us. Let's get ready to rock n roll !

And there you have it, another great win, into top spot, earning promotion. Fully deserved with great managerial decisions from all. What a team.

GAME 5 Vs Pakistan, once again left arm medium new ball bowler Van Rijk (Man of the match) done a superb job at the beginning of the Pakistan innings, bowling extremely tight and taking two wickets. If he is batman, then Spaan our other new ball fast medium ball bowler is Robin, who bowled superbly as well. Bang Pow Woosh, take that joker. They kept Pakistan under the pump early, which allowed the spinners to come in against the mid to lower order and rip in and take wickets. We cannot forget Melkirk who redefined line and length, bowling wonderfully for 2/28. Pakistan were all out for 184.

Once again Lenferink posted a good score, getting the team off to a decent start, perhaps he is only big game player, the friendlies are meaningless to him. Why make runs in those games when they can be saved for when it counts. Hawkins & Scheurer cames in at 4/5 and just played shots to all part of the ground. Despite me crapping my pants for most of this innings, the team did not doubt themselves and rattled off the runs in 44 overs. It was a fully deserved win. Fantastic job boys.

Pakistan U20 Netherlands U20
Batting - Top Order 9,226 9,623
Batting - Middle Order 8,006 8,912
Batting - Tail 4,107 4,271
Bowling - Seam 8,538 8,425
Bowling - Spin 9,684 9,623
Fielding/Keeping 10,175 11,509

Would've loved a slow pitch haha but those pitch types are not too bad.
