Yes great job guy’s.
Our aim first and foremost was to promote, so job done.
In 3 of the 5 games our bats dominated which was awesome, 2 games they struggled like a bunch of 17yo’s that had been up on the drink all night.
Our bowling was solid across the board and did an amazing job on batting friendly decks.
We had 3 of the top 5 in the league champion standings which just shows how much of a team effort it was.
Parris and Garraway were sensational with the bat taking the top 2 spots in runs made, Parris was particularly great to the point he was unavailable for the final game because he’d just spent far too much time at the crease early in the week getting us into a position to promote.
Bowling wise Bicknell headed the charge with 8 showing that all the bowlers chipped in and done the job required.
All in all it was a great week, thank you to all the Bermudan supporters and all the managers of Bermudan players.
Div 1 here we come.
Go the mighty Muda!

The senior boys had their T20 tour last week and had a fairly disappointing week overall going 1-4 and demoting to Div 3. If only a couple of games went the other way and we would’ve been looking at a very different result for the week but unfortunately that’s T20 cricket in a nutshell.

In a week dominated by the ball the only bats worth mentioning were Henry Garraway with 95 runs @ 24 and Henry Ellcock with 92 runs @ 46 for the week, being our only bats passing 50 in an innings.

We were extremely tidy with the ball with all of our bowlers having an economy rate below 7 an over for the tour but the stand out was Robert Williams with his 6 wickets @ 13, shoutout aswell to Donovan Verley for his 5 wicket haul in game 2.

As stated at the start overall not the tour we were hoping for but we have a chance to redeem ourselves in a couple of weeks with the One Day tour coming up! Good luck to the U20’s in their T20 tour who have their first game starting as this is being posted!

Been a while since any chat in here, so figured id post a quick update.

Bermuda have seen a bit of success over recent tours and our now in a heads up battle for WC qualification with the West Indies for the upcoming World Cup. So be good to see some Mudan support if anyone is following.

End of Season 53 we promoted from NOD Div 3 with 5 wins which put us right back in the hunt and followed that up with a big comeback in our next NOD tour by starting 0-2 but finishing with 3 wins on the trot to almost poach promotion to Div 1.

NT20 we have just promoted from Div 3 with 3 wins 2 losses narrowly keeping out Kenya, next season we will be looking for WC qualification there too if we have some more success in the T20 tours

Game 1 England
Hard Cloudy

After losing the toss, England chose to bat first and found themselves under the pump early as Ambrose Charles picked up a couple of early wickets. John Slioch kept the pressure on with a couple before drinks and England were wobbling at 110-5 at drinks.

Peter Delves did what he could to anchor the innings for England scoring a solid 92, to push his international average up to 55. But it wasn't enough as a well rounded Bermudan attack and a strong fielding performance rolled the English for 187.

Confident of chasing the low total on a batting friendly wicket the chase got off to a slow start when debutant John Simpson and Henry Hibert departed cheaply leaving the Bermudans looking creaky at 54-2, however it was the other debutant opening the batting and captaining the team that dug their heels, Randy Moss (89) formed an important partnership with Pablo Escobar (39) to guide the team through most of the chase before a few late wickets.

Final result we chased 188 with 5 wickets to spare and 10.4 overs to spare.
Ratings England 270k Bermuda 261k

Next 2 games will be important for at least 1 win with Ireland and USA rating similarly to Bermuda at around 260k

Game 2 Ireland
Uneven Sunny

A much different game to game 1, this time Bermuda won the toss and chose to bat.
It was a funny innings, early wicket of Lloyd at the top would be followed by a pattern for the whole innings, partnerships would form and then wickets would fall in clumps. No batman scored more than 33 runs but there were 6 of them between 23 -33 runs. Odinson the bowler was probably the standout hitting us to a final score of 214-9. Which on an unven felt somewhere around par, maybe slightly under with sunny weather. But happy to have runs on the board on a pitch where you could be all out for 140 easily.

In the chase it felt like doom and gloom as the Iris openers flew out the gate to a 112 run opening stand. Odinson was probably a bit fatigued after game 1 and the first innings batting, but Rogers felt toothless. But the innings turned on its head around drinks as Healing turned in a star performance to single handedly wrench the game back to Bermuda. Healing tore through the Irish finishing with figures of 6-30. By the time he finished Ireland were 154-9 and 60 runs short. But Edward Reid 44 did what he could to strike farm the remainder of the innings.
In the end Reid fell to Rogers at 194-10 and Bermuda won game 2 by 18 runs.

Onto game 3 against USA. Where we could potentially go 3-0 with strong NRR. Giving us a good opportunity to promote to Div 1 if things fall our way

After game 2, England lock in their qualification. And West Indies and Bermuda pull a game and a half clear of Kenya.
If Bermuda win 1 more and Kenya lose 1 more we are going to the world cup

Game 3 Usa
Uneven Cloudy

Bermuda came into game 3 on a high with 2 wins, But that joy was quickly put on hold, as the USA pace attack started ripping into the Bermudan batting lineup. In tough conditions the balanced USA attack chipped away at early wickets before Morrison 4-19 start rippingi nto the middle order.
Only Escobar (37) got any returns as Bermuda was skittled for 118

In defense of the low total the bowlers tried there best and had USA 51-4 led by John Siloch 2-32. However the total was at least 20 runs shy of defendable total and Steele (33 not out) helped steer the yanks home.

After Game 3, Both West Indies and Bermuda lose and Kenya won to make a very interesting game 4 vs West Indies

Game 4 West Indies
Hard Sunny

Coming into the tour the Bermudan management targeted this game as a must win with the two teams locked in a crucial WC qualifying battle, and after 3 games nothing could separate the two teams both on 2-1 apart from a NRR lead to WI.

West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first which sounded like a wise move, but once Odinson and Charles started off with a hiss and a roar it looked felt like they had walked into a minefield of a sticky wicket, at 28-4 the Windies were reeling.
A couple of partnerships by Persuad 31, Watt 65 and Charles 40 steadied the ship but it was Charles once more you came in and tore a new whole in the West indies batting lineup. With figures of 5-60 he was certainly the star of the bowling. West Indies all out for 202 in the 43rd over was a very chaseable total of the Bermudans

After bowling in the first innings for 1-35, Atkinson was sent out to open the innings with John Simpson. Atkinson figured we has there to see out the new ball but soon found himself having to be the anchor of the innings as Bermuda fell to 60-3, forming a 95 run partnership with Morais (41), Atkinson was the steady for the Bermudans. Finally departing for 85 with 64 to chase.
It all felt comfortable but then Morais and Matthews fell in successive deliveries and with 4 wickets and only 1 batsman in Carter left to chase the 60 runs a comfortable win was at risk once again.
However Miller 17 and Carter 22 not out saw us home by 3 wickets with 6 overs spare

After Game 4, Bermuda put ourselves within touching distance of both WC qualification and promotion to Div 1, Kenya jump West Indies, and it all comes down to game 5. If Bermuda win, or either Kenya or West Indies lose we qualify. But the risk is West Indies finish above Bermuda due to league position if we lose and then Kenya win and jump us outright. So all to play for game 5

Game 5 Canada
Uneven Humid

Going into game 5 Bermuda had done 90% of the hard work to make it to the World Cup, but if Kenya won, and West Indies won with a better NRR then we could still lose he spot at the 11th hour.

Heading into our match Kenya had already won their match up and due to time zones and the game crashing all I knew was West Indies batting first was 63-0. So it meant it was down to ourselves to get the result that we needed.

Once the game came back online, we could see that the West Indies batted first and demolished England by 150 runs. Not ideal

In our game however we got made to bowl first, which we would have chosen to do anyway. Opening the bowling 2 boundary hitter 6’s in the first over was an inauspicious start to the innings.
However Rogers and then Siloch reigned back that fast start with 3 early wickets and Canada wee 23-3 after 5. From there a small consolidation period set in led by opener Duarte (42)
But it was Rogers and Siloch again that led the charge and heading into drinks Canada were in free fall at 93-7
White finally cleaned up the tail and Canada set 124 all out in tough conditions

In reply chasing a small total, Bermuda lost Simpson and Hibbert cheaply but it was the third wicket stand of 54 by Lloyd 42 and Escobar 41 that led us most of the way home, eventually getting there in the 37th over with 6 wickets in hand.

Bermuda win the tour, promote and qualify for the World Cup after going 4-1 :party

Final qualification standings

10 England 37
11 Bermuda 36
12 Kenya 35
..
13 West Indies 34

Commiserations to West Indies who fought to the bitter end

Starting next season from div 1 now means Bermuda is guaranteed 15 point towards the next World Cup qualification. So if the threshold is 35 points again we are roughly 40% of the way to the next World Cup already
