Emirates Cricket League - Season 2
Posted: Tue Jun 17, 2025 7:31 pm
The Emirates Cricket League is back for it's second season, after a thrilling first season came to a dramatic end with a tied final, the stage has been set for season 2 to follow.
Inaugural champions Abu Dhabi Warriors, led by heppa, will be looking to defend their title after also topping the group stage and going unbeaten last time.
Similar to last season, this will be a franchise competition where franchises will play each other twice, home and away, in the group stage and the top 2 franchises will then contest the final.
Teams will be assigned an entire week to get their games done and each team captain or a designated representative has to post the links to fixtures in their respective forum threads.
Ex: Round 1 has to be played in FTP Week 4, Round 2 in FTP Week 6 and so on.
If teams have no free friendly slots then the match will be declared a draw.
Franchises have to play their matches by Sunday 23:59 FTP time, and games can be played any day of the week.
Ex: Round 1 is FTP Week 4, so all matches for this round have to be played by Sunday 23:59 FTP time.
Franchises are allowed to retain some or all of their teams from last season if they wish to do so.
A draft will be held for any remaining vacancies.
How the points system for franchises will work:
2 points will be awarded for a franchise win and 1 point for a franchise draw
For example, out of 5 matches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, if Abu Dhabi win 3 and Dubai win 2, then the score will read as Abu Dhabi 3-2 Dubai.
Abu Dhabi gets 2 points in this case.
Individual wins and losses will also be recorded and used as a tie-breaker in case of a tie in the points table.
Competition format will be home-and-away (Each franchise plays the other, once at home and once away) with all 4 franchises playing each other once and the top 2 then contesting the final.
Winning franchise members will each be awarded either 1 month membership or 40 credits.
Rulings if teams cross the rating limits:
1: Team A vs Team B, If Team A wins but crosses the rating limit and Team B stays under the limit, then the result will be overturned and Team B will be declared the winner.
2: Team A vs Team B, If Team A wins and stays under the rating limit, and Team B goes over the rating limit and loses, then the result will stand.
3: If both teams cross the limit then the result will stand.
Home teams are responsible for sending the challenges to their opponents each week, and are HIGHLY recommended to do so in a timely manner each week.
If anyone exceeds their league match rating, then the result will be overturned regardless of the difference in match ratings between them and their opponent.
Example: Team A played Team B in the SOD 3 league. Team A won but they rated 206k while Team B rated 199k. Team B will get the win as Team A crossed the SOD 3 league limit of 200k.
