We lost the opening round 5-3 in the end unfortunately.

That means matches against Pakistan are a must-win if we want to advance to the knockout stage.

The Fixtures post has been updated and all fixtures have been arranged. Great work :thumbsup

Unfortunately, Dbest lost in a close one yesterday, so we're down 1-0, but I believe we can come through this round with a win :clap

An unbeaten 38 run 10th wicket partnership from my lads took us to a defendable total. We've looked good most of the 2nd innings. Hopefully close this one out soon.

C. Murray (rfs) 8-2-13-5, W. Howell 3 (3b), A. Iverson 10 (9b)
End of over 42 (3 runs) - Hasraz(143-8). 40 runs required from 8 overs. RR 3.40 RRR 5.00

Up 2-1 at the moment. Fixtures for round 3 should be out tomorrow or Friday.

The scoreboard in the competition forum had us winning the 1st round 5-3?

I believe that's an error on the organiser's part.

Only yourself, EB and I won our 1st round games, while Hep, Penky, Speedy, Moose and Dbest all lost.

Points Table should be correct in the thread.

We're going to need to win 2/3 between you, myself and Penky to ensure victory in round 2, pending the outcome of whether Speedy’s game is counted. I’ll elaborate on the situation once a decision has been reached by the organisers.

P. Schonegevel (lf) 9-0-59-2, R. Burroughs 2 (5b), B. Jones 0 (0b)
End of over 39 (8 runs) - Rangas United (171-7) RR 4.38

In quite a bit of a trouble here. Hoping just to get close to batting the 50 at this point.

C. Brunson (lm) 9.2-0-48-3, R. Burroughs 26 (22b)
End of over 46 (1 run) - Rangas United (212-10) RR 4.61

Got up to 212 in the end. Not really impressed with the batting display today outside of Burroughs late and Mayfield - maybe about par?

Game could go either way from here.

Lost by 3 wickets after having them 5/83  not the best performance from the lads.

Fortunately Bird seems to be having better luck :thumbsup

At this stage, yes, best to treat it as an elimination game. I'm hopeful of getting Speedy's fixture included based on the precedent that was set in Round 1.

Essentially, before Round 1, Moose raised an issue with me in relation to his Bermudan opponent scheduling a game outside of the scheduled week 4. I raised it with the competition's organizers prior to round 1 to get the all clear on whether it needed to be rescheduled and was told that the fixture was able to be played as normal.

Now, the reverse has happened, where Speedy scheduled a fixture outside of Week 5 as there were slot issues. The rule has been applied that the game should be a forfeit, which is in complete contrast to the exact same situation that happened to us in round 1. I'm hoping common sense prevails in the end and that the fixture will count.

Don't have an issue with the rule, but it needs to be applied on a consistent basis.
