Hmm a tough first day at the World Cup for both our sides. India had a significantly stronger side on paper and converted that to be dominant on the pitch.

Our best:
Abbas Rafi - 3 catches, a stumping and 44 runs. Rafi the only shining light in our batting display, his 44 the only score over 20 (and there were only two scores over 10).

S’ad Zafir - 3/45 off his 10 overs, the pick of the bowlers who battled hard today.

Around the grounds:

Australia outrated Bermuda by 8000 and lost wowie.

That's rough. Didn't score enough with the bat and our weak bowling options really showed today.

We move onto two flat pitches now. Hopefully can spring a couple of upsets.

Solid win overnight. Should have been even bigger if it weren't for their 60 run 10th wicket partnership.

Nice to get on the board anyway. Lets see if we can keep the momentum going!

Beginning to believe Penky is right that coming from his academy is better. As Baha coming from mine just can't get himself going at all!

Our best:
Wafiq Fawzi - 94 unbeaten! To help chase down the 250 with 5 overs and 5 wickets to spare.

Kale Saheed - 4/52 from the Leggies 10 overs.

Abbas Rafi - a catch with the gloves and then 64 with the bat.

Salam Hadi - 3/42 from the quicks 10 overs.

A look at the ladders:
Group 1
1. Canada 3 wins 0.92 NRR
2. Australia 2 wins 0.44 NRR
3. Bermuda 2 wins 0.31 NRR
4. New Zealand 1 win
5. Kenya 1 win
6. Netherlands 0 wins

Canada remaining two fixtures are against Australia and Bermuda.
Bermuda play Kenya in their other fixture and Australia play the Netherlands - both fixtures they should winZ

This group will come down to Canada, should they lose both remaining games then Australia and Bermuda will be finals bound.
Should they win one of their matches they’ll be finals bound and keep the loser out of finals.

Group 2
1. West Indies 3 wins
2. India 2 wins
3. Bangladesh 1 win 0.16 NRR
4. USA 1 win -0.17 NRR
5. South Africa 1 win -0.41 NRR
6. UAE 1 win -0.99 NRR

West Indies Vs India on Friday shapes as the match that will crown the leader of this group. There are a lot of scenarios on who gets second but that looks the obvious critical match.

South Africa is up tomorrow.

There is a path to progressing without needing a good NRR. Very unlikely, but it's a possibility.

Significantly outrated again. Sucks how badly we timed our squad. So weak in comparison to the rest.

Kale Saheed - 3/27 off 9 overs.

Abbas Rafi - 2 stumpings and 4 catches capped a special day with the gloves.

Sa’d Zafir - 2/39 off 10 overs.

A hearty effort from our bowlers, but we couldn’t get a bat to kick on and make the big score that would’ve chased down the 190.

Around the Grounds:
Australia, Canada, India and West Indies all progress with 4 wins.

Unfortunately both our seniors and youths didn’t have great world cups. Youths snagged a win! Both sides will look to regroup and start next season with strong tours and snag a few wins where they can.

Now it’s time to get on the cordials and enjoy the off season! Enjoy the break from national coverage and my write ups! Keep pulling UAE and let’s see if we can’t knock up a few guns to secure the future of our great cricketing nation!

Damn, lose to Bangladesh by 44 runs.

Four 20 run scores in the top 5, just needed one of those lads to push on to a 50 or a 60 and we would’ve won! Bowlers shared the love around but ultimately probably conceded too many runs.

South Africa are next. It’s about survival now, need a win tomorrow!

The lads hold on for the win despite a strong performance from South African gun wicket keeper Nic Naitanui or as my dad would call him The Beagle Boys (Nic, Nat and Nuie).

A win on Friday would guarantee a spot in div 1 next tour! Could even give us an outside sniff at taking the title if other results go our way!

Bugger!

The loss yesterday sees India jump us on NRR and we finish 5th.
