South Africa today chaps, will be a tough game against one of the best U20 sides of the last 2-3 seasons (they were in div 3 with us at one point now sit 2nd in the rankings!), but at least the conditions are a little better suited to us than yesterday's horror show with the bowling.
Fingers crossed for a better performance!

Appreciate the enthusiasm  but those guys are a long way off being good enough for International duty I'm afraid (though fortunately for us!) Keep making UAE youth pulls and I'm sure you'll have someone with potential in the future :thumbsup

Much better effort today! Hopefully keep it less than 120

End of over 20 (7 runs) - South Africa U20(120-6) RR 6.00

Couple of expensive overs but all in all we'll take that. Going to be a tough chase still but definitely possible

Our batsmen were looking a little nervous, but Temiz held strong and took a deserving man of the match with his 73*

Good to see the bowlers make up for yesterday.

Date 14 Sep 21 16:00
Crowd 17,500
Weather Humid
Pitch Slow

South Africa U20 won the toss and elected to bat.

South Africa U20 UAE U20
Batting - Top Order 10,180 9,986
Batting - Middle Order 9,741 9,813
Batting - Tail 5,539 5,295
Bowling - Seam 10,351 (12) 10,296 (12)
Bowling - Spin 10,977 (8) 11,630 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 11,484 11,361
Overall 183,761 183,315

UAE U20 won by 6 wickets

The Match in a Tweet: UAE HAVE A WIN IN THE WORLD CUP BABY!!! AH COME ON!!!!

Man of the Match: Faraz Temiz (UAE)

Our best:
Faraz Temiz - an unbeaten 73 from the opener saw the chase out with a ball to spare!

Isra'il Kaleel - 2/17 from 4 overs.

Nazmi Abdulah - 2/21 from 4 overs.

Tawfiq Ghafur - 2/21 from 4 overs and a catch.

A constant flow of wickets from our mediums and spinners helped restrict South Africa to 120. A strong performance from Temiz who scored more than half our runs in the successful chase.

Around the Grounds:
Group 2:
Sri Lanka beat the Netherlands by 6 wickets.
England beat New Zealand by 6 wickets.

Group 1:
Zimbabwe beat India by 5 wickets.

World Cup Match # 3

Home UAE U20
Away New Zealand U20
Ground Aqrabiyah Antlers CG
League U-20 T20 World Cup
Date 15 Sep 21 16:00
Crowd 15,000
Weather Humid
Pitch Hard

New Zealand U20 won the toss and elected to bowl.

UAE U20 New Zealand U20
Batting - Top Order 9,707 10,591
Batting - Middle Order 8,502 9,761
Batting - Tail 4,846 3,856
Bowling - Seam 9,419 (16) 10,188 (12)
Bowling - Spin 12,948 (4) 10,405 (8)
Fielding/Keeping 11,340 10,961
Overall 172,017 177,237

New Zealand U20 won by 8 wickets

The Match in a Tweet: New Zealand far too strong for the UAE. :(

Man of the Match: Warren Hales (NZ)

Our best:
Mustafa Abdel - 44 unbeaten runs to scrape our total to 150.

Anwar Abdel - 1/16 off his 4 overs in unideal conditions for him.

The 62 run partnership between Habib and M. Abdel got UAE's total up to 150. Our bowlers weren't economical enough and didn't take enough wickets sadly. Bar Abdel, our bowlers went at 7.75 runs an over or worse.

Around the Grounds:
Group 2:
Netherlands beat South Africa by 3 runs.
England beat Sri Lanka by 7 runs.

Group 1:
Scotland beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets.
Australia beat India by 31 runs.
West Indies beat USA by 6 wickets.

U20 T20 Group 2 after 3 matches played:

1. England ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ 3 wins
2. Sri Lanka ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ 2 wins +0.33 NRR
3. New Zealand ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ 2 wins -0.23 NRR
4. Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ 1 win -0.26 NRR
5. UAE ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช 1 win -0.38
6. South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ 0 wins

England look almost guaranteed to win through to the Semi Finals.

Sri Lanka + New Zealand's fate could well and truly be sealed in tonight's game when they play each other. Would expect the winner to go through in second provided no major slip up on Friday against South Africa and the Netherlands respectively.

Similarly, UAE vs Netherlands tonight could decide who snags 4th spot in the group. Not that it makes any difference other than simply being better than finishing 5th.

In Group 1, Australia has won all 3 games. USA sits second with 2 wins. All other four teams are equal with one win.
That second final's spot is mathematically anyone's with the USA still to play Australia on Friday.
Just here to contribute a few cracking commentary lines and spend hours on the transfer market.

There's still a chance, Moose!

Habib led us to a good victory against the Dutch today. If we can beat the English, and both New Zealand and Sri Lanka manage to lose, we may well sneak through. It's a stretch, but it's still a chance.

If we can manage 3 wins from 5, I will be happy with our overall performance.

World Cup Match # 4

Home UAE U20
Away Netherlands U20
Ground Cypress Creek CG
League U-20 T20 World Cup
Date 16 Sep. 21 16:00
Crowd 12,000
Weather Humid
Pitch Flat

Netherlands U20 won the toss and elected to bowl.

UAE U20 Netherlands U20
Batting - Top Order 9,659 9,485
Batting - Middle Order 9,591 8,349
Batting - Tail 4,551 3,355
Bowling - Seam 9,407 (16) 9,167 (16)
Bowling - Spin 12,122 (4) 10,172 (4)
Fielding/Keeping 11,325 10,754
Overall 174,381 160,508

UAE U20 won by 9 runs

The Match in Tweet: UAE hold their nerve and have their second win at the World Cup!!

Man of the Match: Jawad Habib (UAE)

Our best:
Jawad Habib - 64 with the bat, 3 wickets and a runout. Almost singlehandedly getting us the win.

Tawfiq Ghafur - 1/26 and a catch.

Around the Grounds:
Group 2:
Sri Lanka beat the Netherlands by 3 wickets
England beat South Africa by 8 runs.

Group 1:
Scotland beat The West Indies by 19 runs.
Australia beat Zimbabwe by 1 wicket.
India beat USA by 5 wickets.

As Heppa said we are still a mathematically chance of snagging that second spot. We need a lot to go our way to do it.

We need to beat England who havenโ€™t lost a game.
We need South Africa who havenโ€™t won a game to beat Sri Lanka.
We need Netherlands who have just the one win to beat New Zealand.

Over in Group 1, Australia held their nerve just and have locked away top spot and a ticket to the finals. All other 5 teams are a mathematical chance to steal second. Calculators will be out for that group 100%.

We take on England at 1600. Itโ€™s all or nothing. Letโ€™s go!
