S53 Week 1
And as quickly as it was over it begins up again! Given I am running unopposed, there is no need to waste valuable days, so we're right back in to work.

The Team
Me... NPD-PowerBug. Will be joined by my main assistant Speedy17. The other 2 spots may rotate, as they are they to show people the ways that NAT management operates :)

Goals
Just to re-iterate the goals I have set in the election topic, because I'm not afraid of being held accountable and those topic get archived.
  1. Performance - To win a Division 1 tour
  2. Performance - To reach a semi final of a World Cup
  3. Development - Watchlist planning for the future of the UAE Seniors. And the proof of that is...
    • Watchlists are created (S59 first, S57 second)
    • Correspondence of these lists are sent out to the relevant managers
  4. Development - Increased Community engagement from the previous 2 seasons both here on the forums and in the discord. I can't force people to post, but I can do my part to try and encourage it as much as possible. And that will be done by...
    • These updates are continued to be posted (Min 5 a season)
    • Tour topics are created and posted in
    • Continue to give discord a workout blasting the UAE flag under everyone's eyes
    • Send a personalised message to the manager whenever a new player enters our squad of 30.
I hope that in 2 seasons we can look back on this and see that the majority if not all of these goals have been met.

Squad
No more changes since the update from before. 11 of the 30 are 30.00 or older (oldest is 31.00), 8 more turn 30 in the next 5 weeks... It's a squad which will have some dramatic turnover before the OD WC takes place in two seasons that is for sure.

If you think the management team have forgotten about a player of yours (and you want them in the squad) then do give us a heads up and we'd be happy to answer the query or correct our mistake!

Friendlies
We're right underway with the friendlies again. Internally we have goals and hopeful learnings around mainly match tactics that we want to learn from these games, so do expect to see a lot of friendlies played. Same procedure as before will be followed where anyone who joins our squad of 30 will be given at least one friendly match.

In the week that passed we played three friendlies. On Saturday 12th we played West Indies on a Cloudy/Crumbling, and we managed to chase down 170 in 46 overs. Hatim Ayasha, Atif Saleh and Wakil Aziz all made their debuts. Ayasha put in a POTM performance with 70 (97). Saleh took 4 wickets as well, while Aziz chipped in with 13 runs at the top of the order.

Wednesday we also managed to chase down a score against Canada. Ubaid Kedar was the star of the chase with an 89 and Hud Sam took 3/16.

Today was less exciting, India scored 231 against us on a Windy/Dry and we thought it was a score that we could get given they only bowled 1 spinner. But it wasn't to be as we got rolled for a poor 136. Given it was 133-5 the innings really did end quickly. We were also out-rated by 22k which is something we have noted.

Week 2
  • More friendlies are scheduled, Canada and the USA await
  • The S59 watchlist is nearly complete, preparing and maybe sending the correspondence is on the list.
Go the UAE!

S53 Week 2
First full week of this next tenure is complete. Here's what has occurred:

Tours
We put in a small bid for this tour, in the end it didn't win. India won (04:30 start time) and are hosting on Dry, Crumbling, Slow. Time to get the spinners ready!

Friendlies
Two friendlies, two wins! Canada and USA both played and beaten :) In the first game is was Al Capone's 82 in the chase which was the star performance, whilst Yusuf Mohammad 4 wickets and Hassan Iqbal's 57* were both strong supporting acts. Against the USA it was more of a team performance, but it was a dominant one! Rolled them for 104 after losing the toss, Hud Sam with 3.2-2-5-3, domination! In the chase Musa's 28 was the top score as the top order shared it around and got the runs.

The Future
22 players have been collected as part of our watchlist who will be U30 at the S59 World Cup. The managers of these players have all been notified of this, as we look to confirm the training plans are all sweet.

In 99% of cases that we do this the plan mentioned is already good, the re-enforcement of those plans and the odd message around how they can differentiate or tweak is sometimes mentioned (hint: the answer is always fielding) as well.

But thanks to those who have promptly replied already. If you think we've forgotten about your player then do ask, the DMs are always open!

Week 3
  • More friendlies as we prepare for the tour. Sri Lanka on Wednesday and one TBD for Saturday
  • Pick the 18 who tour in what will be my first go at OD Div 1 with the UAE.
Go the UAE!

S53 Week 3
A quieter week has just passed. Calm before the storm :)

Tours
Our tour gets underway in Week 5. India won the hosting rights. It's going to be a fun week back in Div 1, hopefully we can put on a good show :) There's a forum topic created for all that discussion along with highlighting the players in our squad of 18.

Friendlies
Two friendlies, but sadly two losses. On Wednesday Sri Lanka did the business with the bat scoring 263 against us on a Sunny/Dry. Jabril Kamal was the pick of the bowlers with 4/49. In the chase we had a bunch of starts but no one was able to carry us through to the end.

On Saturday we had a run fest vs New Zealand. We conceded a huge 366 runs on the Hot/Flat, Hud Sam took 3/54 but no one else helped out (less said about how our ARs bowled the better). In the chase it was Kaden Musa who tried his hardest to get us home with 139* (100) but in the end we fell 4 runs short :(

The Squad
We've made one change to our squad of 30. Jakeem Khoury goes out of the squad. Jakeem never managed to get a tour with us, however put up 75 runs in his 3 innings in friendly matches. Replacing him is Isra'il Hakim, further adding to the players from Birds 2nd XI in our list of 30. It's quite the club side indeed.

The Future
Thanks to those who have responded, we're very grateful to have had a positive response from everyone. We're in a good place moving forward and it's all down to you managers who have taken care of our players.

Week 4
  • Prepare for the tour.
  • Two friendly matches vs India and Australia
Go the UAE!

Three games into the Div 1 Slash and Crash Tour and we've snagged wins against Canada and Australia!

The table is tight with 4 teams on 2 wins, Netherlands alone on 1 win and Canada winless.
Sadly our NRR is less than desirable so would probably need two good wins in the next two days to claim another Div. 1 Title!

Bite Size Reviews of the Three Matches So Far:

India Monday, Sunny + Flat means Bat, India set 216 and we could not chase it down.
Mukhtar and Iqbal 50s and the gangster Al Capone a 46 off 25 balls.

On Tuesday Australia in the bin thanks to a Sharif 76 and tidy bowling.

Mohammad 4 wickets to see Canada rolled for 129 today and chased down thanks to an 71 run opening partnership from Kedar and the Q Stick!

Tune in at 0430 tomorrow as we take on the Netherlands!

S53 Mid-Season Review
Busy irl period just passed and finished, and naturally a lot has happened in UAE land too so let's get straight in to it!

Tours
The OD was played in Week 5 with us Div 1, and that saw us finish 2-3 but with the best NRR compared to Aus and NZ so we survived. Win of the week was vs Sri Lanka where we put up 122 but the bowling was sublime to take all 10 wickets with 16 runs up our sleeve. Al Capone scored our only century of the week, whilst Hud Sam took 9 wickets :)

Because of the Aussies relegating, this left UAE at that moment as the only nation who were in Div 1 for all formats across seniors and youths. An amazing effort :)

However it was short lived because in the week just passed we had the T20 tour and sadly our 2-3 record was not enough to keep us up this time. Poor results on Day 1 and Day 5 where we were batted out of the game by India and England. Day 2 saw a nervy win against Australia and Day 3 was a more comfortable win vs Canada as our bowlers really turned the screws well. Day 4 was the sad point as a last ball 3 saw the Netherlands sneak home on a Slow. An impressive week by England who were the lowest rating side on average MR across the week and they went on to win the tour :thumbsup Al Capone again topped our runs tally for the week, but the shoutouts go to Kaseem Sharif and Abu Reda who both played big innings against Australia and Netherlands, really showing off their spin spec talents

So it'll be Div 2 for the T20 tour next season but in the meantime we have a T20 WC to prepare for. It's been good to battle against the top teams and I look forward to tackling them all again in the WC in 7 weeks time.

The Squad
Changes have occurred as we predicted with all the old lads beginning to plop, so since the last up we have said goodbye to:
Ziyad Khoury: 21 total caps and 24 wickets for us. More impressively though is through his 14 NOD matches he had an economy rate of 3.05, bowling 17 maidens from 14 matches. No player in UAE history with 7+ matches has a lower economy rate (6th all time). The only thing stopping it from being 4+ matches is....
Khayri Nasri: 6 NOD matches for this medium AR, scoring 89 runs with the bat @ 17.80, and took 12 wickets with the ball at an impressive econ of 2.99
Kaden Musa: 9 caps (5/4) with averages of 13.8 and 17.75 in each format for this batsman.

In the side we can welcome:
Ya'qub Shareef: A wicket-keeper who will be utilised as a batsman for the time being
Sheik Yerbooty: A fast bowler with a deadly yorker.
Jabir Shakur: A med AR who has many change-ups when the ball is older.

There may be more in the coming weeks as we prep for the next tour, there's 3 players who are 31yo who all have some question marks over them.

The friendly matches below saw debuts for Isra'il Hakim and Quinten Lynch, whilst Lynch and Abbas Hussain made their competitive debuts in the T20 tour.

Friendlies
There were two friendlies before the OD tour occurred where we played India and Australia, both on Hot/uneven. Sadly we went down to both. Between the OD and T20 tour we played 5 T20 matches against the 5 nations who I handpicked as the best 5 not in Div 1. Results went as follows:
Scotland - 65 run win
New Zealand - 5 wicket loss
Sri Lanka - 7 wicket win
West Indies - 6 wicket win
USA - 9 run win

Between now and the OD tour we will continue our prep for the T20 WC as we play the 5 teams from our recently completed T20 Division in random/random conditions, beginning with India on Saturday at 16:00.

Week 9
- Select a tour squad for the final OD tour of the season
- Play friendly matches with an eye on the T20 WC.

Go the UAE!

We've got two more goodbyes to make....
Kamil Salah has been a staple of the UAE side for a fair few seasons now, amassing 20 NOD and 14 NT20 matches which involved the rise through the divisions from 3 to 1
Mu'adh Khaleel goes down as one of the UAE's most successful fast bowlers with 51 NOD wickets (5th amongst our fast bowlers) and 43 NT20 wickets (3rd overall!). There's also a pretty handy batting average of 13.87 in there as well.

Replacing them in the squad are Gadil Murat and Fadil Jahid.

S53 Week 9
Another week down

Tours
The final OD tour was won by Scotland on Crumbling, Dry, Uneven as we look to bounce back from the disappointing T20 tour. The tour squad and the pitches for each match are officially released in about 30 minutes from now, but I'll provide some spoilers...

Congratulations to Hatim Ayasha, Ya'qub Shareef, Sheik Yerbooty and Atif Saleh for making their first tour squads! Shaquille Muttalib and Quinten Lynch will be on their first OD tour as well, having previously only played T20.

Current Squad
No other changes in the offing at the moment, there's 13 over 30s in the 30 man squad so we're monitoring plops, last week was kind to us. There's a few players who are very much on the radar to come in when it's time (in most cases just waiting on power).

Friendlies
India - 8 wicket win
Australia - 64 run win
Canada - 13 run win

We've had 3 friendlies since the last post, and 3 wins in them! :party Not sure on the order setting of namely India but Australia and Canada out-rated us and we found a way to win both matches :) Sheik Yerbooty and Jabir Shakur made their debuts vs Australia and both ended up in the votes! Against Canada it was more of a team effort but Wakil Aziz with a top of the order 61 was the one which was the best of the lot :)

Week 10
- Prepare orders for the Week 11 tour

Go the UAE!

S53 Week 10
A quiet week

Tours
It's tour week next week. So the week that just passed was used to look in to our opponents and begin planning our rotation strategies.

Current Squad
No bad plops last week, so no changes to the squad needed.

Friendlies
The two friendlies in the last week. We beat the Netherlands by 4 wickets on Wednesday but fell short to England by 11 runs on Saturday. Sheik Yerbooty with a POTM performance in the Saturday game, whilst Abbas Hussain took 4/18 to be POTM on Wednesday.

Week 11
- Win the OD tour.

Go the UAE!

Hello, good evening, good morning, good afternoon, whatever it be…

Do I have a treat for you all!
Double the Manager = Double the Fun
Not one, but two UAE National Managers. I am joined by U20 Manager Heppa and Senior Manager NPD-PowerBug ahead of the upcoming respective World Cups!

Both World Cups commence on the 20th of Feb – hit and giggle for the seniors and the respectable format for the youths! Seniors play daily at 0500 and Youths play at 1300.

I start with the obvious question, the one on everyone’s mind. Is life meaningless?
Sorry, wrong run sheet.

Are both of these World Cup’s blatantly Australia’s to lose?
Both: Yep, yeah, yep.

Let’s now play a montage of all our previous World Cup Wins.
{3 Minutes of Silence}
H: Well, that was rude.
PB: Absolutely disgusting.

All jokes aside, how do you both rate our chances in these upcoming World Cups:
PB: I'm a little unsure. On one hand we've been drawn a tough pitch draw for our strengths, but I also do really believe in these players. We have a great core who are primed to go for this exact World Cup. Two seasons ago we put up a 3 win week in the World Cup, I'll set the standard there again this time.
H: Better chance than the Seniors, that’s for sure!

What key players are you expecting a lot from this World Cup?

PB: Two names here: Hud Sam and Al Capone.
Hud will collect his 60th senior UAE appearance during the World Cup week, an incredible feat.
Al Capone is used to murdering the opposition’s bad bowling and we are going to need him to focus on his batting this World Cup. Al has gone through a bit of a form slump at club level this season (averaging only 8.86 in ODs this season). Due to this and after a stern conversation, management have decided to let Al focus on his batting this week and relieve him of the National Captaincy.

H: ALIM AMEEN.
If the NBB F lives up to his potential, he could be etching World Cup Winning Player of the Tournament into his CV. Absolute star.
Abdul and Mullet are two players we will need to perform, if we’re going to compete!
