Change is like a holiday! 😎

Let’s hope this wasn’t a once off fluke for the new manager who starts his National management with a convincing win over South Africa.

Details
Home UAE
Away South Africa
Ground The Folly
League Nat One Day 3
Date 18 Oct. 21 16:00
Crowd 15,000
Weather Cloudy
Pitch Dry

UAE won the toss and elected to bowl.

UAE South Africa
Batting - Top Order 15,079 14,539
Batting - Middle Order 14,018 13,282
Batting - Tail 6,501 6,116
Bowling - Seam 14,049 (20) 15,527 (20)
Bowling - Spin 15,051 (30) 15,125 (30)
Fielding/Keeping 17,504 18,595
Overall 261,658 261,851

Man of the match: Jaul Ghayth (3 points), Amir Alam (2), Zaid Abbas (1)

Bowling first on a dry, UAE managed to restrict South Africa to 146 bowling them out in the 41st over. Backed off Ghayths patient unbeaten innings, the batsmen chased with ease splitting the runs between 3 partnerships and chasing the runs in 29 overs. A real team effort with everyone stepping up.

The match in a tweet:
YOU AY BEAUTY!!! A win in the first tour match for the UAE bois!

Our best:
Jaul Ghayth - the 31 year old scored 66 off 80 balls with 8 boundaries including 4 maximums. Only 3 BH triggers. I am surprised Ma’Mun failed to hear his call as you can usually hear Ghayth from the other side of the planet. Ghayth also had two catches in the field.

Amir Alam - 4/34 off 9.1 overs including a maiden. A stumping and 3 caughts rounded out a beautiful display of bowling from the offie.

Zaid Abbas - 3/40 off 10 overs including 2 maidens. An lbw and two caughts. Not bad for a medium on a dry wicket.

Cemal Ma'mun - finished South Africa’s innings with his second stumping for the innings. Also had a catch to round a good day with the gloves. Then scored a wonderful 39 runs off 50 balls before running himself out. Hit 6 boundaries including the one maximum.

Hud Sam - the young leggie bowled economically with just 14 runs coming from his 6 overs. Hard for an old ball bowler to truly shine when there’s no batsmen left to knock over. A catch and a wicket rewarded Huds efforts today.

Nawfal Shadi - the seamer (FM) toiled hard in unideal conditions for him. Finished with 2 wickets and conceded 32 runs from his 10 overs which included a maiden.

Possible room for improvement:
19 extras (5 byes, 9 leg byes, 2 wides, 3 no balls)
We would expect the keeping extras to reduce as Ma’Mun settles into the National scene and continues to improve.

Around the Grounds:
Currently the 36th over of USA’s chase of West Indies 254 on a slow after USA bowled first. The USA will need a miracle last wicket partnership with the last pair needing to make 107.

Update: the final wicket fell and West Indies win by 104 runs.

44th over of Irelands chase of Pakistans 212 on a dry after Pakistan won the toss and batted (classic!). Ireland need two runs from 6 overs with 3 wickets in hand.

Update: a six will do it! Ireland win in the 47th over to win by 3 wickets.

A look ahead: we take on Ireland tomorrow. Tune in at 1600 as both teams look to continue their winning ways.

A fantastic start to a tour week!
