Two of our elder statesmen in Qassem and Ghayth stood up and got the job done today.

Around the grounds:

India v Ireland Ireland won by 5 wickets

Well well well now things get interesting.

The ladder current
1+2 India + Ireland with 3 wins

The fixtures tomorrow are
India Vs Zimbabwe
USA Vs UAE
Ireland Vs Pakistan

In other words

A loss tomorrow could see us finish anywhere from 4th to 6th pending other results.

Let’s just win and then what will be will be.

UAE won by 9 runs
R. Armanjani (rfs) 9.3-1-60-2, W. Ashley 67 (49b)
End of over 50 (2 runs) - USA(261-10). 10 runs required from 0 overs. RR 5.22 RRR 0.00

And that caps a frustrating but positive end to our last SOD tour this season.

Didn't quite secure promotion with Ireland and India winning today, but we got 3 solid wins at the end of the tour despite being outrated in the last 2 after a disappointing start in the 1st couple of games :thumbsup

This will probably be Salah's last SOD tour and maybe Qassem.Good for them to go out on a high.
came here to say exactly this.

Nervous win today

Against Pakistan he took 3/46, made 55 and took 3 catches. Man of the match performance.

Hud Sams 8 wickets the best of the bowling returns. Qassem with 7.

Khayri Salah lead in the field with 3 catches and a runout. Hud Sam leading all nations with his 2 runouts, no other player managing multiple.

Hud Sam - 2/32 off his 4 overs.

Zaim Jabbar - 58 runs for the opener including 7 fours.

Group 1.

Bermuda lead the group with 3 wins from 3 matches. The play us tomorrow and the Netherlands on Friday. A win in one of those would all but secure their ticket to the next stages.

Sri Lanka and Netherlands both have the 2 wins and the one loss.
Sri Lanka play Bangladesh and USA - they’d need to win both well to be a chance of snagging a spot in the semis.
Netherlands play USA and Bermuda. Again would need to win both to progress.

Bangladesh and USA both have just the one win. We are yet to get on the winners board but a couple of wins could steal us some pride and really shape who goes through to the semis.

Group 2.
Is the same as group 1. One with 3 wins, two with 2 wins, two with 1 win and one without a win.

England are top with 3 wins but still have to play New Zealand and India.

New Zealand and India have 2 wins each. Both play England. India play Australia and New Zealand play Scotland.

The last two matches of both groups will be very competitive with lots of nations still able to snag those semi final tickets.

Bermuda up next tomorrow for the seniors.

The youth play at 1200. Tune in then.

Kaliq Aziz - 2/27 off 4 overs and 30 runs with the bat.

Amir Alam - 2/19 off 4 overs.

Around the grounds:

Group 1
Bermuda have secured their ticket to the finals with their 4 wins.
USA, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Netherlands are all equal on 2 wins and all can win that second spot. They’ll all look to win tomorrow and then it’ll come down to NRR.

Group 2
England and New Zealand have all but secured their spots in the finals - wins on Friday will secure that. Losses will open the door slightly for West Indies and India.

Our Best:
Nawfal Shadi - 2/24 from his 4 overs.

Rais Armanjani - 3/30 from his 4 overs.

Abu Reda - 28 runs from 25 and almost half the runs that we managed.

Unfortunately, not going to win many games when your best 2 scores are 13 and 28, you get 5 ducks and get rolled for 61. We knew this was going to be a rough week, but that's a disappointing way to finish our World Cup Campaign.

Around the Grounds:
Group 1.
Bermuda win through as top of the ladder, with just the one loss so far this week - against Netherlands today in a dead rubber for Bermuda.
Sri Lanka take the second spot in the Semis, only in front of Bangladesh and Netherlands on NRR.

Group 2.
England progress with 4 wins - their only loss against New Zealand, who also progress. New Zealand had 3 wins and everyone else in the group managed 2 wins each.

The youth still have one match remaining against Bangladesh at 1200. Let's hope we can end this week with a win!

Back Once AGAIN!

Another One Day Seniors Tour kicks off on Monday.

We are off to Bangladesh to play on some absolute dirt bowls (Dry, Crumbling, Slow).

Matches will be 0200 daily starting Monday and finishing Friday.

We play (in order starting Monday through to Friday):

Netherlands, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, USA, Bangladesh.

Touring Squad: Player (Club) [National OD Caps]

Ubaid Kedar (Ashburn CC) [0]
Ziyad Khoury (Achmid's Sou) [0]
Rakin Yousif (Caribbean Pirates) [0]
Gadil Mukhtar (Birds 2nd XI) [3]
Zaim Jabbar (Birds 2nd XI) [3]
Alam Nu'man (High Voltage) [5]
Tetsuya Naito (Legacy of Warne) [5]
Kamil Salah (Groundfielders) [6]
Liam Duggan (Stafford rangers reborn) [7]
Zaid Abbas (Kiss My Chaminda Vass) [8]
Abu Reda (blackcat) [8]
Mu'adh Khaleel (jacko's XI) [10]
Rais Armanjani (BgUINNES RAMs) [11]
Nawfal Shadi (Ashburn CC) [11]
Hud Sam (High Voltage) [12]
Kaliq Aziz (Cover point) [18]
Amir Alam (Rangas United) [27]
Jaul Ghayth (The Bengals) [31]

Three debutants this tour:
Ubaid Kedar is a 27 year old opening batsmen and one of Penky's men - would be looking to impress when given his opportunity.

Ziyad Khoury is a 28 year old finger spinner from Achmid's Soul. Spin friendly pitches have meant more spinners given their chance to impress at the top level.

Rakin Yousif is a 30 year old batsmen that comes into the squad to strengthen the batting.

Some questions to be poised as we go into another senior tour:

1. Where are we likely to get our wins?

Sadly, I don't have a crystal ball but let's look back at our last tour and see where our wins came: Pakistan, Zimbabwe and USA. Netherlands and Bangladesh have come down from Div. 2 since the last tour.
We have won the last two ODs we have played against Pakistan.
We currently have an OD win streak of 10 against Zimbabwe.
We have won 5 of the last six ODs against USA.
We haven't played Bangladesh in a competitive OD since Season 48 where they beat us comfortably.
The last time we played Netherlands was a Div 2 OD in Season 47 where they beat us comfortably.

If I had to make a prediction - I would say USA and Zimbabwe are a best chances to secure two wins. Our best is good enough against Pakistan. So if we have a great week, we should get at least those three wins. If they turn it on this week, a win against Bangladesh or Netherlands would get us in promotion talk.

2. Is this the last tour for Ghayth and Aziz?
Absolute stalwarts for the UAE with 49 national OD caps between the pair. The pair have a 1000 OD runs between them, 22 wickets and 20 catches. Both nearing the 32 years old mark, you have to wonder if the next time they run out on the pitch, it could be the last.

3. Is it true that Al Capone wasn't picked because of his controversial life outside of cricket?
The star in the making has to be close to national selection, but I am not a selector, so I won't make a song and dance about it (I am looking at you Shane Warne, Steve Waugh, etc.)

Also just a bit of a small minor note, I've got a bit going on in real life over the next month or two.

So please excuse me if I miss any match write ups.

Thank
