UAE U20 would like to announce that MrMoose has come on board as an assistant. He is obviously dedicated to our cause and will be a great asset to our team.

Maybe this is what we'll need to take the extra step?

Thank you, thank you.

Lowkey sounds like I might have been set up as a scape goat if we fail to go that one magical step further.

Happy to be on board and will try my best to keep the lovely supporters of the UAE engaged and enthusiastic.

Moose's Monday Memo:

Hello everyone, figured I would try and do a weekly (ish - I'll try) little write up in here to create some awareness and excitement about the youth side. Definitely not stealing Power Bug's thing. No sir.

The Last Week:
Friendlies played and won against Ireland and India.

Sadly Ireland didn't set orders so whilst we rated well and won comfortably, the game was a bit of a dead rubber.
None the less Hasan took 4 wickets and Kendrick my man hit a really nice 50.
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=6383468

Against India, we were able to test some of our younger players and also get the win.
Solid batting from most of our bats but particularly Abdul and Mullet saw us set 226 which our bowlers protected comfortably.
Shahriar the standout with the ball taking 4 wickets. Mullet shined also with the gloves and snagged two catches and a stumping.
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=6383475

This week we have a friendly scheduled against the Netherlands.

This week I am going to shine the spotlight on a few players in our squad of 30 we haven't seen pull the UAE kit on just yet:
Zafar Walliyullah [BEYOND THE WALL] - a 20.6 year old with apparently the safest hands in the emirates, just ask him.
Ahmad Sharif [Scott's Tots] - a 20.6 year old who accumulates runs quicker than his manager accumulates players in the UAE Nat squads.
Faisal Armanjani [PKF Tigers 2nd XI] - a 19.14 Right Armed FM who loves bowling nasty sandshoe crushers.
Jamel Mundhir [Scott's Tots] - a 20.13 year old opener that couldn't skipper a boat on autopilot.
Fahd Zakariyya [Lincolnshire ccc] - a 20.11 year old who can do it all and does it all day.
Kale Sami [Cows] - a 20.10 year old, who unlike his name sake is a delicious bowl.
Rahman Saad [Birds XI] - a 20.10 year old FM who loves the new ball.

Congratulations to all managers on training players good enough to make the national squad, it is by no means a small feat.

Have a lovely week and I wish you the best of luck with YRs.

Moose's Monday (Definitely not Thursday) Memo:

The Last Week:
Three friendlies played, all loses unfortunately. Hopefully getting the losses out before they count.

Last Wednesday we played the Dutch on a slow deck in sunny sunny weather.
A 74 from Mullet and a 97 from Wahid took us to 4/227 after the 50 overs.
Netherlands cruised to our total with 3 overs to spare despite Shareef taking 3 wickets.
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=6383470

On Saturday we faced the West Indies on a slow deck in windy weather.
We batted first and we were bowled out within 43 overs for 170 despite a 52 from Abdul.
Shareef took another two wickets but ultimately didn't have enough runs to defend and the windies cruised home with 6 overs to spare.
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=6384513

Yesterday we took on the USA on a sticky pitch in windy conditions.
We batted first and were bowled out within 47 overs for 171.
All the bowlers took a wicket except Khaleel, but USA strolled to the target with 5 overs to spare.
https://www.fromthepavilion.org/scoreca ... Id=6384482

This week I am going to feature the capped elder statesmen of our current squad:
Amir Wahid [Scouse Pavilionaires] - 20.13 - 4 ODs [96 runs] - 5 T20s [165 runs]
Tariq Shareef [Emirates Academy] - 20.13 - RFS - 5 T20s [5 wickets]
Ishan Ghafur [Germantown Cricket Club] - 20.13 - RM - 6 ODs [7 wickets] - 8 T20s [10 wickets]
Kendrick Lamar [Oval Invincibles] - 20.11 - 4 ODs [143 runs] - 6 T20s [91 runs]
Humam Khaleel [Buggles United] - 20.10 = 3 T20s [1 wicket]

ta for now :dance

Our first competitive hit out after making it to a World Cup grand final starts this Monday.

We have a One Day Tour that we are hosting (in Bangladesh).
Pitches for the week are Slow, Crumbling, Green (in that preference).

Weather forecasted to be humid early in the week before cloud cover sets in and is eventually blown away late in the week.

Our match ups for this tour week:
Monday 19/12 - Vs Netherlands on a Green Deck
We will be looking to bounce back here after losing our last two competitive OD hit outs against the Dutch.

Tuesday 20/12 - Vs The West Indies on a Green Deck
Looking to continue our current OD streak against WI (currently 3 wins on the trot).

Wednesday 21/12 - Vs Ireland on a Crumbler
Ireland have a win streak of 3 in YODs and we will be looking to snap that on Gravy Day!

Thursday 22/12 - Vs AUSTRALIA on a slow deck
We haven't beaten these lot in our last 5 competitive YODs. We would love to snag an upset for the underdogs of the world!

Friday 23/12 - Vs India on a Crumbler
Not a pretty sight looking at recent YOD results, haven't beaten India within the last six matches. That could change this week!

The Squad
Jamel Mundhir - Scott's Tots
Ishan Ghafur - Billinghay Blockers
Tariq Shareef - Emirates Academy
Amir Wahid - Scouse Pavilionaires
Fahd Zakariyya - Lincolnshire CC
Altair Alam - Master Ducking Bouncer
Kendrick Lamar - Oval Invincibles
Kale Sami - Cows
Hussein Temiz - The Bunker Bugs
Jabril Hasan, Idris Abdul - Muhan Bagan
Humam Khaleel - Buggles United
Abdel Raghib - Mhukan XI
Mustafa Ibraheem - Ealing Eals
Zafar Walliyullah - GRUMPY OLD MEN
Kamil Shahriar - Hassanites
Nazim Jubair - Justhititfor6
Alim Ameen - Woodville-West Torrens Eagles

A huge congratulations and a thank you to all the managers who have a player representing UAE this week! We thank you for your sacrifice.

It's going to be a tough week for the lads, but we have full confidence, they'll give it a red hot crack and shake it with the big bois! Let's go!

Batting - Middle Order 7,086 8,083
Batting - Tail 3,230 4,617
Bowling - Seam 9,483 (40) 9,537 (30)
Bowling - Spin 10,785 (10) 10,237 (20)
Fielding/Keeping 10,500 10,449
Overall 158,017 167,036

Result: UAE U20 won by 119 runs
Toss: Netherlands U20 won the toss and elected to bowl.
Man of the match: Nazim Jubair (3 points), Ishan Ghafur (2), Amir Wahid (1)

Jubair ends agonisingly short of a well deserved hundred, unbeaten on 99, but I don't think he will mind one bit as we take a massive win into the rest of the tour week.

The Performers:
Jubair - 99 unbeaten
Ghafur - 3/20
Wahid - 60 runs

A 57 run opening partnership got things to a nice start before we lost three wickets within four balls. 102 run partnership between Wahid and Jubair settled things and some pinch hitting from Ameen and Shareef iced the cake.

Commentary Line of the Day:
Hasan to Biermans : Oh no! What has he done there? In a moment of panic or brain-fade or both, Biermans has inexplicably picked the ball up which was clearly about to roll back onto his stumps and tossed it to Walliyullah who immediately appeals. Biermans stands there looking at him, but he's got to go. Madness.D. Biermans handled ball 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR:0.00

All the bowlers held their nerve and contributed in different ways to bowl the Netherlands out within 42 overs. Ameen despite leaking runs took 3 wickets, Gaffer was elite with his three wickets, Shareef picked up 2 wickets and Sami and Hasan kept things economical.

Around the Grounds:
Ireland win big against India in a similar fashion to our game (117 run win on Hot/Slow).
West Indies held their nerve to chase down Australia's 232 run target (6 wicket win on Hot/Slow).

It's West Indies next - tune in at 0200.

Result: UAE U20 won by 30 runs
Toss: West Indies U20 won the toss and elected to bowl.
Man of the match: Ishan Ghafur (3 points), Nazim Jubair (2), Jamero Kenda (1)

West Indies saw the green tinge to the pitch and decided to have a trundle. Our openers said hell of a day for batting and put on 47 before losing a wicket in the 12th over. Our top four all got starts and Jubair once again proved his talent with an unbeaten 61. Sneaked the total up to 229 and asked West Indie to go chase them.

Ghafur got 4 wickets including the set batsmen and the others all contributed (Ameen/Hasan with 2 and Khaleel/Sami economical and taking a pole each).

Around The Grounds
Ireland held their nerve to beat the Aussies by 13 runs.
Netherlands beat India by 5 wickets.

Our two wins and healthy NRR from yesterday see us currently topping the table, just ahead of Ireland (only on NRR).
West Indies/Netherlands then each sit with their one win.
Australia/India both yet to take a win.

Tomorrow is a cross roads junction for the two unbeaten teams in the tour.
Ireland have beaten India/Aus and face Netherlands/WI later in the week.
We have beaten Netherlands/WI and face Aus/India later in the week.

The week doesn't get any easier, but the lads will continue to put their best boot forward and let's just see if we can go and claim a Div. 1 title!

The highlight here for sure was THE ZAK - 19 opening the batting and 2/20 with the ball almost singlehandedly dragged us to an unlikely win.

I guess you can't expect to win when you're outrated by 20k but my god we pushed the envelope right to the edge of the desk (or whatever the saying is idk). If any of the three [DROPPED]s had gone to hand or if Sami had landed his change up just before drinks, we really could've won.

Mathematical methods with Mr Moose on a Monday Morning (sounds better than Thursday night).

After 4 matches the ladder looks like this:

UAE/Netherlands - 3 wins, 1 loss (UAE NRR 0.8, Neth -0.2)
Ireland/Australia - 2 wins, 2 wins (Ireland 0.3, Aus 0.2)
West Indies/India - 1 win, 3 losses (WI -0.5, India -0.7)

Tomorrows matches are
Netherlands vs Australia
UAE vs India
West Indies vs Ireland

IF we win
And Netherlands win =>> title comes down to NRR
And Netherlands lose =>> UAE win the title

IF we lose
And Netherlands win =>> The Dutch win the title
And Netherlands lose =>> it comes down to NRR between the top three (or four if Ireland beat West Indies)

I think India need some crazy massive wins to avoid the drop drop but it's too late in the year for me too do that kind of maths.

Tune in at 0200 tomorrow as we look to bag the most unlikely title win since Steven Bradbury took Gold on the Ice!

Thanks mate. We're very lucky to have someone like Moose on board. He does a great job and it's no coincidence we've been extra successful this tour with him joining the management team as well now.

Bat first ✅
Bat big ?
Take early wickets ❌
Win the game ✅

We didn’t do it by the book, it wasn’t pretty but it was a win.

Khaleel the makeshift all rounder rescued our batting innings and his 42 dragged us to 164. When India were 0/70 in the 18th over it didn’t look nearly enough runs. Enter to frame Temiz and Ibraheem. 5 wickets each as we go onto bowl out India to win by 20 odd runs.

An unlikely Div 1 title but one that should be celebrated for sure!
