I am trusting Google to have given me the same translation as last year.
Welcome to
Irish League Youth Plate first timers:
- #28 Royal Eleven ( Youth 3.3 )
- #44 Barnsley St. Peter's ( Youth 3.1 )
- #50 Muggles Cricket Club ( Youth 3.3 )
- #53 Western Suburbs Hacks ( Youth 3.1 )
- #75 Balls Deep ( Youth 4.3 )
- and particularly manager JTLewis1110 and their newly joined Siwel CC ( Youth 4.7 )
Previous two-time winners, #35 Woodlands CC ( Youth 3.3 ), are still in the Youth Cup me; so, it loves us with a returning runner-up, #52 St Johns Athletic ( Youth 3.1 ), and semi-finalist, #53 Western Suburbs Hacks ( Youth 3.1 ), from last year's competition.
Here we go...
Quarter-by-quarter
First quarter
#60 Q Dragon Empire ( Youth 4.7 ) v #52 St Johns Athletic ( Youth 3.1 )
St Johns Athletic won by 8 wickets
#38 Dublin Devils ( Youth 3.3 ) v #44 Barnsley St. Peter's ( Youth 3.1 )
Dublin Devils won by 59 runs
Nothing to see here, neither game was close sadly, and Dublin look comfortable favourites for the semi-final. Moving on...
#52 St Johns Athletic ( Youth 3.1 ) v #38 Dublin Devils ( Youth 3.3 )
Second quarter
#28 Royal Eleven ( Youth 3.3 ) v #47 Insane Inglewood Posse ( Youth 4.6 )
Insane Inglewood Posse won by 8 wickets
#59 FPCC Ireland ( Youth 4.3 ) v #84 Babylon5 ( Youth 4.6 )
FPCC Ireland won by 9 wickets
The Posse progress despite Senan Campbell's 95 not out. Gavin Rankin (84) received greater support from Mann and Murphy to secure the win. The Babylon5 batters played checkers whilst, left fast-medium, Shannon Maguire played Minbari chess for 4-26 and the match slipped into a temporal rift from which it never came back. The Posse look like slight, but not certain, favourites in the next round.
#47 Insane Inglewood Posse ( Youth 4.6 ) v #59 FPCC Ireland ( Youth 4.3 )
Third quarter
#70 North Saxe ( Youth 4.3 ) v #75 Balls Deep ( Youth 4.3 )
Balls Deep won by 7 wickets
New Siwel CC ( Youth 4.7 ) v #76 Xessux Club ( Youth 4.2 )
Xessux Club won by 9 wickets
A tale of two unbeaten half-centuries: Atholstan Aley (53*) for North Saxe and Hamed Farahi (53*) who was apparently knocking Balls Deep. Another unbeaten half-century for Xessux's Carlwyn Furlonge (78*) quickly reached the 126 target. Collectively the bowling attack had contained Siwel's score to setup what could be the game of next round.
#75 Balls Deep ( Youth 4.3 ) v #76 Xessux Club ( Youth 4.2 )
Fourth quarter
#21 The Hurlutown Partnership ( Youth 3.4 ) v #50 Muggles Cricket Club ( Youth 3.3 )
The Hurlutown Partnership won by 8 wickets
#53 Western Suburbs Hacks ( Youth 3.1 ) v #58 Blazing Dragons Cricket Club ( Youth 3.2 )
Western Suburbs Hacks won by 26 runs
The Blazing Dragons, Inga Muddle (63) and Alvin Berg (56*), tried but couldn't chase down Western Suburbs Hacks total of 187; mostly down Sanee de Livera (3-19). Three more half-centuries from Marthinus Steensma (67), Roland Paul (54) and Ivor Miller (50*) proved too much. Meanwhile Avelyn Browne (78*) drove The Hurlutown Partnership to an easy win over the Muggles. Can the Hacks get past the Partnership to return to the semis? We think not.
