I also think that it would be good to have a weather condition that specifically favours batting. Currently they all seem to favour bowlers apart from Sunny, which is neutral. As the weather seems to have as big an impact (if not a greater impact) than the pitch type, it would make sense to have at least one that favoured batting.

For me, I have not yet understood when to use flat/hard decks really. With the others it is pretty simple, the opponent has a scary quick, throw them a dry, too many spinners, throw them an uneven. When is flat ideal to set as a pitch? against good bats, those bats will demolish you and against worse bats, they get the advantage to make the bowling look weak.
RL does have more flatter decks in the shorter formats doesn't it. I feel so, but not a lot on numbers, but more of a thought.
The game is a tad bit lower for the higher divisions I reckon, lower scores as well than the regular 250-300's in the SOD's in RL. But yes, I guess you will be right in that.

100% with you...
The way I understand it, is that flat pitches is best for when you are weaker than your opponent. And hard is when you are also weaker, but has some good fast or fast medium and you want to neutralize the opponent's spinners.
But I don't think it is enough to turn it into your favour, because match ratings plays a massive part and there is too much variables for bowling. And if your opponent has good Batting, you are screwed anyway. So I fail to see the gain of a flat or hard pitch.

This sounds like a good idea!

I've pretty much always selected a pitch to suit my best bowlers, however I can see merit in a flat pitch if you have strong fielding and your bowling attack is lacking or closely matched to your opponent. My thinking is that a fielding advantage in a higher scoring match could make the difference.

I have a really stupid question... I've been playing the game since 2016 and although I get my batsmen to the spectacular and above for batting, tech, experience and power I somehow rarely get their average above 30 and never above 35 for One Day, when playing more than 15 games.
Orders are almost always normal and they do score 50s and 100s, but never consistently.
And my pitches are normally uneven, because of my bowling attack.
Is a 30 batting avg good for One Day?
I think 30 is a good average. another way to look at their performance could be strike rate ratio. 75 runs per 100 balls in OD and 127 runs for T20

Thanks Boscorp! I always have a strong fielding side, due to I think it is the one thing that is in your control. I've played with bad fielding teams and damn... Will never do that again. You are just leaking runs.

Didn't think of this! Thanks! But it confirms my feeling that 30 is actually a good avg.
I think this is turning into another conversation about tactics and potencial changes to the game. But I will play around a little more with tactics and pitches etc and keep track.

Hey all, just wondering when it's advised to expand a home ground.
I've only been playing since the very end of last season, and in 19 home games (youth & senior) I've managed to sell out 8,000 seats only four times. Other matches have seen as little as 3,200 coming in (YT20).
Home game attendances so far:
Code: Select all
YOUTHS SENIORS
T20 OD T20 OD
4105 3300 5889 6478
4202 7230 6540 8000
3213 3772 3714 8000
4683 4769 6397 8000
5292 8000 7411
Am I leaving money on the table yet, or should I keep it as-is until they're all selling out?
And if I should upgrade, how do I know how big to go?
If you have been selling out SOD a few times, especially during the first half of the season, I would be looking at an upgrade. You generally won't sell out the other formats.
Don't upgrade in too small increments. I would personally start with 3k and see how you go from there.

Id start by trimming you squad for cost saving
You don't need Jonah Doble, Lloyd Gardiner, Digger Woolmer, Luke Parsons, Hunter Hibbert, Emmet Heke, Hercules Barber costing you 7.2k per week. Just fire them.
In terms of Attendances, they drop massively when you play bots and youth matches. So a YT20 against a bot will be the lowest attendance you will receive. Senior matches against more established teams provide the best numbers.
You could upgrade now, or you could wait for a promotion to one of the senior div 3 leagues up to you.
When you do upgrade id take it from 8k to 12k.

Agree with Power/Strengh.
It will train endurance aswell and is one of the few training that will show benefit after 30 and not decline as much. You will get very little increases after 30 with the other training.
Also, if he turns 31/32, you might want to Rest him aswell.

Bat first, score lots of runs is always the best way to a NRR boost. If you have good pace options a Hard pitch is always good for this
