Hello darlings,

Playing through the settings page (which I totally knew about and didn't only discover today two years into playing the game).

What page should the "abbreviated skill names" feature change?

Doesn't seem to change the squad pages (grid, batting, etc.) , orders page or transfer market.

It should change any of the squad pages certainly in grid form it use to
I have had it on abbreviated names for 15 yrs or whenever it came in

Doesn't appear to work. Not a biggie for me but just thought I'd ask.

Hi Mr Crow.

Will there be a review of the financial changes made at the start of the season?

Whilst I have no issues with the match rating requirements for sponsorship. Players wages all going at the start of the week really hurts the wallet on a Monday for those of us who live ftp paycheque to paycheque.

A match fee paid as the match starts (balanced by gate keeping) would be better in my opinion.

Or have the sponsorship paid out based on the MR of the previous week (how I thought it would be implemented).

We did consider paying out last week as a whole but I like the way we do it now
As for a match fee or lower wage plus match fee, ity is something being tossed around but I will say it will be a couple of season away being seriously discussed and/or implemented.

Since the change in Academies, is the huge drop in the quality of youth pulls that I'm experiencing normal?

In the previous set-up, my Deluxe Youth Academy regularly pulled 16 year olds with Average and Reasonable primary skills. Since the switch over, my Academy sits at Luxurious, and I've rarely pulled a player worth keeping. I very rarely keep a player that doesn't have a primary skill of at least "Ordinary", and have sacked 8 of my last 12 youth pulls.

The kid I pulled today has "Poor" in both primary's, two "Ordinary's" elsewhere, earns $582 per week, has a rating of 18,749, and I have to keep this garbage because he's the 2nd best player I've pulled in the last three-months!!!

Deluxe gives a little more chance to getting those YR then luxurious but it is mostly a run of bad luck you are currently experiencing

I don't have any idea about that @clivey, but I'd like to add to your question. Does the percentage of people having an academy, currently like 5% for del and 10% for lux, affect the pulls these academies get if they are more/less than what they 'should' be? As in, does total number of deluxes in the game affect pulls for a single deluxe academy?

Apologies if this has been noted already, but some questions about extras. The game manual really only mentions that a good keeper can limit byes and wides; but there's no discussion of whether or how the bowler influences no balls and wides. Assuming the bowler in some way influences the likelihood of a no ball, wide, or even a bye; then what attributes of the bowler influence these?

Is it bowling skill?
Technique?
Experience?
Fatigue?

Does game situation also have an influence?

Aggression and to a lesser extent bowler type certainly impact extras. A fast bowler on aggressive will bowl more wides and no balls

Having the same issue with my affilate. Lavish academy, but since the start of last season (so 21 pulls) the highest rated one has been 20,870, and he was ordinary primary with dreadful fielding (would have sacked him if he wasn't a w/s and I wasn't so desparate for players to fill my squad). Haven't had a youth pull that would potentially make my senior team for 8 months (player in question is now 18y5m)! At the moment having to keep 17k rated pulls otherwise I'm in danger of not being able to field a team in about a season's time.

How does a good keeper limit wides? Are the umpires less likely to call a wide-ish delivery "wide" if the keeper catches it more cleanly?

I imagine they can limit the number of wides by gathering the ball cleanly. So instead of going for multiple wides, it's reduced to one wide only.

I don't understand it either since a wide is like a no-ball -- it adds one run to the score and that's all. If a wide goes for multiple runs, well then those are called byes. Or at least that's my understanding. But below is what it says in the game manual.

Keeping This is the primary skill required for wicket keepers. A wicketkeeper with a high keeping skill will convert more stumping and caught behind opportunities. Keeping skill also affects the number of byes conceded and has a minor effect on the number of leg byes and wides that are conceded (a good keeper might be able to stop a wide ball from going for 5 wides, for example).
