Most dropped catches

In my youth game last week my opponent made a whopping 8 dropped catches, yet still managed to win by 6 runs. they took a hattrick to get the final 3 wickets

Anyway it made me wonder if there is a record for the most amount of dropped catches by a winning side and if there is, what is it?

match 6308626

I dropped eight in my first division one game, with two drops off the first two balls of the game. I had dropped 7 by over number 30 lol. My opponent also dropped three- all three after the 30th for a weird comparison. I won that one, so I'll take it:)

I'm not far away Summit don't worry.

vs Canada in the first match of the first OD tour of the new cycle we dropped 8 catches.

7 of them were before drinks. We obviously didn't win that game.

The next day vs India we dropped 7 catches, with 6 of them after drinks.

But at least we caught some of them in that game and still won it.

Outside of this I have no other references because my teams don't drop catches :P

Someone wise once told me:

Bad fielding teams don’t have dropped catches as they get nowhere near the chance.

Great fielding teams catch everything.

So by this logic the team with the most dropped catches is actually a decent fielding side.

Long story short, train your fielding.

My youth team probably drops more than 5 catches a match on average.

The thing is, it wasn't my team, it was my opponents team, and they still won.

I think my youth team might make 1 or 2 drops or per game, I have a minimum of reliable. And when a player gets to out/out then I do more fielding.

But the worst part was that I was all set to win, and they took a hattrick right at the end, all catches.

The point is, if you've played cricket, even at like primary school level, there aren't that many dropped catches. Running speed is useful, certainly, when even trying to catch, as MadCarrot alluded to, but athleticism isn't necessarily agility or dexterity even though it might be a sort of combined result of both. I just don't believe that those playing cricket so often can drop as many catches.

The players in the game are supposedly "professionals", i mean salaries, academies, etc. Like, crochet is their main hobby.

6 dropped catches (by my senior team in their game so far)...and they tend to not have the worst fielding rating.

Edit (after the match):
6 dropped catches
Fielding/Keeping 14,634
