Training schedule players 30+

Post by FritsNL » Fri Nov 18, 2022 5:27 pm

My players getting older. I have not much experience with training older players. Some managers train them only fitness. Others batt- or bowl-tech and batting or bowling?

What is the best training schedule for players when they reach 30?

Is there a difference training seamers & spinners?

The endurance part of fitness still trains the same amount at 30

At 30 realistically they should be fully trained , I’d put them on rest to be able to continue playing them

I tend more towards endurance as they lose twice a many points on a fitness plop as other skills and if you get 2 in quick succession, it can be very damaging.

This.

You might need to shift someone to 'rest' for a week or two depending on their endurance level. Putting someone on 'rest' when they don't need a rest is a waste of training.

Rest or power/fitness only. Unless power/fitness are world class or higher then I might do a primary.

At this point I'm not interested in developing them as much as I'm interested in delaying their retirement.

That is also what I like to know. I noticed that most managers train primairies till 31 and then fitness. The oldest player of my squad is 29. One year to go.

What to train him? What level does his End/Power need to be minimum when he becomes 30? :dance

I usually just react to plops but it can spiral

Also, if you can afford to play them once a week then you can allow endurance to plop a bit further

Our affiliates main keeper just popped in batting at the age of 30.14.

You just need to be lucky with plops etc.

Certainly this, I never train fitness on a 30+ player. If they are struggling for fatigue then I use rest.

Hmmm, rest is only 1 level. Maybe better not to select him at T20. And select him for SOD. :whistle

I don’t like to train players rest. Rather fitness to keep his end&power as high as possible. :dance

And by your argument training fitness is less than one level
