Great tour guys, Div 1 champions!! :dance :clap

Had some harsh luck recently so you deserved it. Some great performances and it was good to see my allrounder Derek Jackson in the winning touring squad :D

U20 One Day Div 3 Tour

Post by epcguy » Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:43 pm

Match 1 v Kenya

A great all round team performance where everyone pitched in to win by 38 runs. Our batsmen certainly turned up with 3 half centuries from Masingata (62), Mutizwa (71), Grobelaar (56) and Dolman could have joined them if he hadnt got excited when on 49.
All our bowlers were miserly but our fasties ripped them apart with Krog taking 4 for 40.

A good start :thumbsup

Match 2 v Bangladesh

A fantastic victory by 89 runs with 101 opening stand between Dolman (46) and Vanderplank with a century (obviously been well trained by his manager  ). We struggled to get another partnership going but it all adds up.
Once again our bowlers were miserly, Arubi taking 4 for 39.
Not getting carried away, we have been here before so taking every game as it comes

Match 3 v Bermuda

What a demolition...amazing winning by 256 runs.
Another fantastic opening partnership of 88 between Bowley (43) and Masingata (140) set us on our way and by the time Gorringe was Run out for 47 we were 191-2. Whitty(46) and F Kamungozi (51) finished with an unbeaten partnership of 91. Superb.. and then to cap the day off our bowlers then despatched Bermuda for 97, Baloyi taking 5 for 16 and Krog devastating again with 3 for 25. As well as a great batting performance our Keeper F Kamungozi took 4 catches, fantastic performance.

In a very strong position now for promotion but still 2 hard games to come.

In a very strong position now for promotion but still 2 hard games to come.
Match 4 v Scotland

This always looked like our hardest game and so it proved. Not the result we had hoped for losing by 5 wickets but also not unexpected as we always knew our last 2 games were against the better sides.

Our wickets fell regularly with no partnerships allowed to develop, only Grobelaar with a much needed 63 kept us in the game. Our bowlers tried hard to defend 4 runs per over but this was always going to be a tall order as we were aware our score was at least 20 runs short. A brilliant middle order partnership of 73 by the Scottish batsmen that we never looked like breaking saw them home.
We are still top on NRR and just need to not lose against New Zealand to promote bearing in mind Scotland have their easiest game of the week against Bermuda. This is a winner takes all game.

Match 5 v New Zealand

Well what can I say........YES!!!! Finally got out of that Div 3.

A great win today by 90 runs. It wasnt straight forward again for our batsmen but Whitty scored a nice 52 to help us on our way but the stars today were definately our spinners. Doig 25-3, Baloyi 34-3 and Kamungozi 11-2.

It is a sad day also as the majority of this squad has played all season winning Div 1 in 20/20 and now this but its time for alot to leave before the World Cup. Thanks for your support and now off for a pint of the black stuff to celebrate

A tough start to our World Cup sees us fall short of defending totals in our first 2 games.

We can take heart in taking the chasing teams right until the final over, not being completely outclassed in either match,

Up next is the in form UAE side, who managed a brilliant scalp of Australia,

Every game is must win now if we are to sneak into the next stage of the WC,

Match starts midnight tonight FTP time https://fromthepavilion.org/gamedetails ... Id=6283910
