Hello, my name is UtopiaRay, and I am an assistant manager with the Bangladesh U20s.
Yesterday was Game 5 vs Canada in Crumbling/Windy conditions - and we entered the game with our destiny not entirely in our own hands. In order to stay in Division 1, we needed to beat Canada and hope NZ lost to Australia, and that the combined margin of our win & their loss (if we batted first & NZ batted second) was 87-88 runs.
Canada won the toss and batted first, but after a 67 run opening partnership it all went pear-shaped for the Canadians, and we rolled them for 178 in 47.3 overs. Seamer Nazmus Alam cleaned them up at the death, picking up 4/36 off his 8.3 overs, benefiting off the pressure built in the middle overs by the spinners (chiefly Madan Nayak, with 1/17 off his 9 overs). I mentioned earlier about the combined margin of victory/defeat for us & the NZ game - because we're batting 2nd now, we had to chase this total with at least 4 overs to spare (and have NZ lose by 70+ runs).
Our innings did not start as strongly, losing opener Manu Vatuvei at the end of the 4th over. Unfortunately, this set the theme for the rest of our batting performance - consolidate after losing a wicket, the batters get comfortable and begin to accelerate, both batters immediately get out. Wicketkeeper Rohit Gavaskar was our top scorer with 33 off 67 as we slumped to 148 all out off 41.3 overs, and lost by 31 runs. The Aussies had done us a favour and beaten NZ by 111 runs, but ultimately it didn't matter as we had to win this game to avoid relegation.

Overall 161,880 158,773
We'll have to fight our way back up to Division 1 next season, but it's on to the World Cup for now.

Post Tour Review:
We kicked off the tour with a brilliant victory over New Zealand, giving us a strong start and an early boost. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the high point, as we then went on to lose our remaining 4 games against Sri Lanka, Australia, England, and Canada. Heading into the final match day, we had an outside chance of survival, but the team couldn’t pull through, resulting in our relegation to Division 2.
Despite this outcome, we’ve spent the last 3 seasons (6 tours) holding our ground in Division 1, an impressive achievement considering we’re one of the smaller teams in this elite tier.
Looking ahead, our focus now turns to the U20 OD World Cup at the end of the season, where we’re determined to finish on a high note in what will be my final time leading the U20 setup.
