So, Australia in Crumbling/Windy conditions.

Needless to say we never expected a win.

Bowled out for 131 really explains the game.

Our young bowlers competed bravely to take 5 wickets but in the end they chased it down in 35 overs.

Batting first reduced the NRR hit.

Onto Canada.... a game where we should perform significantly better in

Slow/Windy conditions.

Great start to the tour, good NRR boost as well.
aren't your bowler ages a bit suspicious? de Mel (21.1), Jayasekera (21.1), Perera (21.0)
They were 20.14 at selection :ninja
I'm convinced

Great job so far on this tour with 3 wins and one loss...same sequence we had with the seniors WLWW so far.
Nice position to be in: 3 teams with 12 points and they other two play each other.

This means win and you're up. Lose and its an NRR battle. So lose narrowly and you may well go up too especially if South Africa win the other game.

Sri Lanka U20's Dominant.

That's the headlines the papers will read this morning!

An absolutely dominate display against Bermuda has us in the box seat to promote to Division 1.

Bermuda 10/119 which Sri Lanka chased down in 28 overs.

This brings us to Day 5 and leaves us in a great position.

We currently have 3 teams locked on 3 wins, 1 loss with a strong NRR. The bonus.
The other 2 teams play each other

A win guarantees promotion, a draw guarantees promotion. A loss and we might promote.

Thanks to all supporters of Sri Lanka U20 and hopefully tonight, the team will deliver!

Sorry for the late mail. The Sri Lankan U20 National team has only just recovered from the 2 day party they began on Friday.

Friday we defeated the UAE 20 team by 46 runs.

This is significant as we have now achieved the following goals:
Qualify for Division 1 U20
Qualify for Division 1 T20
Qualify for The EOS 47 World Cup.

We have just booked our ticket to the EOS 47 World Cup.

The following goals for the remainder of the season:
Remain in OD Division 1
Remain in T20 Division 1
Win the World Cup
Get Bura back to Sri Lanka

Over the coming weeks I will be in contact with the 30 man squad that will make up our initial World Cup squad in relation to training requirements to ensure we have the best opportunity possible for not only the World Cup, but also moving forward as a nation to build a stronger Sri Lanka.

Finally a few thank you special mentions i have to give having achieved these massive goals:
My assistants Angolvagyok & Chezza have been nothing short of amazing and I could not be here without the team behind me.
paulc for his constant support on the forums and taking over the Senior National Team moving forward.
And many of our youth focused teams that build the squad for Sri Lanka U20.
Just to single out a couple:
Lesvosace, Angolvagyok, bura, KnightWing & rkpny have been the rock to every squad we have taken on tour.
Thank you now and thank you for the future Sri Lankan U20 players you will develop.

Here's hoping we take our form in recent tours to this tour as it will double as World Cup Season 48 qualification.

Tough week with a couple of big defeats.
Maybe the result of a young team - T20 is where experience and other secondaries (power!) are really important.

Very tough week.
Unfortunately this was actually our best squad, there was a major gap in quality over an 8 week period it appeared back when YR's were made.
Hopefully next tour will be more successful.

A very disheartening tour.

We had won the hosting rights and went in with our strengths.

Game 1 - We defeated India and started the tour off right.
Game 2 - We lost to Australia by 20 runs, closer than the Match Ratings feel we should've been.
Game 3 - It all went downhill from here....

Against eventual champions South Africa in Sunny/Dry conditions our 2 best bowlers Vaas & Shiromi collectively went for 93 runs from 8 overs whilst they posted 177 runs to win.
When your 2 best bowlers go at almost 12rpo your never gong to have a good time chasing the total down (one being an OBB).
Pressure built and our batting attack collapsed and was all out for 134.

Then came the match against the Netherlands who hadn't won a game all tour.
Batted first in Sunny/Crumbling conditions.
And it was the complete opposite. Our batting attack collapsed to be all out for 92 runs.....
The dutch team chased down the total within 14 overs with our attack having nothing to defend.

These 2 heavy heavy losses went there was no chance of us surviving come the last day.

A consolation victory against New Zealand proving to feel quite hollow.

What could we have done differently? Won the toss I suppose being T20.
The 2 games that mattered were the 2 games we didnt expect the horrible performances to occur.
Vaas is going to lead our World Cup attack and is our best Seam bowler. Likewise Shiromi is our best spinner. The match we needed them unfortunately it didnt work out.

Onto the next tour. OD 3, the final tour before the World Cup. For the 3rd time in my tenure we have also won the hosting rights.

Tour selection will be up next Sunday.

Thank you for all those that have supported and remember, pull Sri Lankan!

First 2 matches of the U20 tour.

First game against Australia.

Started strongly and were 2/89. In the space of 7 overs we lost 4/10 to slump to 6/99.

Somehow built a partnership and got to 6/177 from 50 overs thanks to an Ernest 77*

This proved to be almost defendable...

We lost by 1 wicket thanks to a 14 run 10th wicket partnership! Sobstory taking 5/33

Match 2.

Bowled first against Scotland who posted a very strong score of 7/260. Andrahennadee taking 4/33

The run chase ended up never being in doubt thanks to a magnificent Kelaart 114

We chased the total down with an over to spare.

We now face the Netherlands in a vital game. Win and we are in a strong position to stay in Division 1 this tour.

2nd 2 matches of the final tour.

Match 3.

Dominant performance against the Netherlands.... in the end.

We slumped to 5/70 before a strong partnership between Karu Ernest and Sajin Lakshman dragged us to a mammoth total of 7/201.

The bowlers had an easy time bowling into a massive NRR challenge and we bowled the out for 159.

A great team effort to put us 2nd on the table!

Match 4.

Against the might of New Zealand!

Batting first again we had a late collapse but posted a par total of 171 thanks to a Suresh Keelart 79.

In response New Zealand cruised to 2/116 and it looked done for needing only 55 runs. Cue Collapse!

New Zealand lost 8/38 for Sri Lanka U20 to win by 17 runs!

With Australia U20 losing this puts us 2nd on only NRR with the chance to win U20 Division 1 at our first attempt. We were 1 wicket away against Australia from being undefeated at this point of the tour.

Tune in below from 05:30 GMT time to watch the U20's go for the title!
