Game 3 vs Scotland U20 was on another Slow pitch but Sunny weather.

We got sent in to bat first and had a steady start though not quick, which worked out fine considering that we were able to mount a late charge with wickets in hand and get to 150/5. Lalith Sivakumar top scored with an unbeaten 52 off just 38 balls and played his innings well, starting off steady but accelerating at the end.

The Scots started at a quicker pace than us and had most of their wickets in hand, but then we got a timely runout which also slowed their runrate which then got us a 3rd wicket, before we managed to close the game out in the death overs and earn a narrow 7 run win that was looking unlikely for a large part of the 2nd innings. Susantha Cafoor was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-21-1.

Lalith Sivakumar is the Player of the Day for his unbeaten 52 and 2 catches.

Game 4 vs Ireland U20 was on an Even pitch with Sunny weather.

We won the toss and went in to bowl first.

First half of the game was all us as the bowlers dominated and picked up 5 wickets in the first 11 overs for 60 odd runs, before a good rally from Dennehy and O'Houlihan got them to 146/7, of which Dennehy managed 95 not out. Jeewan Jayampathi picked up 3 wickets but Niroshan Rifan and Bayya Jeewantha were the ones that kept things the most tight as both kept their ER below 6.5 and picked up a wicket each. Special mention also to keeper Hameen for his 5 catches.

We made a fast start in the PP and our middle order built on that start as they were able to guide us home to a good 7 wicket win. Lalith Sivakumar scored another half century and finished on 57 not out with contributions also from Hameen (36) and Piyadigama (26* off 13 balls).

Player of the Day is tough to pick so I'll give it to both Sivakumar and Hameen. Sivakumar for back-to-back unbeaten 50s and Hameen for his 5 catches and support to Sivakumar during their 78 run partnership.

Final game of the tour vs India U20 in Slow/Sunny conditions, promotion was secured so we picked those players that did not get many matches.

Won the toss and opted to bat first, had a decent start but could not accelerate and only managed 135/4 in what can at best be described as a middling performance. Jayantha Fonseka top scored with 40*.

Indian batters made a steady start and kept the RRR under check, not falling too far behind and then kept wickets in hand, due to which they could make a big push at the end. A wicket and 2 runs conceded by Susantha Cafoor meant that India U20 needed 17 runs off the last 2 overs, then 8 runs off the last over, which they managed on the last ball of the innings and won the game. Pick of the bowlers was Cafoor with figures of 3-0-11-1.

I cannot pick a Player of the Day as we had multiple players put up good performances.

Match Ratings
India U20 Sri Lanka U20
Batting - Top Order 8,963 8,550
Batting - Middle Order 7,892 7,972
Batting - Tail 4,843 4,203
Bowling - Seam 8,996 (11) 8,986 (10)
Bowling - Spin 8,472 (9) 10,361 (10)
Fielding/Keeping 10,289 10,272
Overall 156,620 157,880

We end the tour with 4 wins out of 5 and finish in 1st place.

We also recognize Lalith Sivakumar who is Division 3's top scorer with 169 runs from 3 matches played and was only dismissed once.

Focus now shifts to the ODI tour where we managed to stay in Division 1 last time out.

Game 1 of the final ODI tour of this season where we are hosting the division.

Canada U20 were up first on Crumbling/Hot conditions, where they won the toss and bowled first.

We lost an early wicket and after that got a good 106 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Some more starts by our batting meant that we had a good platform for the last few overs but unfortunately we could not capitalize and accelerate, finishing up with only 236/6. Arjuna Yapa was our top scorer with 79.

They also made a steady start but by the 39th over we had them at 160/8 and most people would think that the game was done and dusted for us with a comfortable win. However, what followed was something that completely frustrated us as they managed a 50 run partnership for the 9th wicket which almost took the game away from us but fortunately we managed to close the game out for a narrow 12 run win. Sanath Achilles was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 10-0-31-4 and also our Player of the Day.

Game 2 and 3 reviews are both done together here:

Game 2 was against Australia U20 in Slow/Hot conditions while Game 3 vs Bermuda U20 was in Dry/Hot conditions.

Won the toss in both games and batted first.

Against Australia we lost a couple of wickets in the PP which slowed us down and meant we were struggling, but thanks to a 6th wicket partnership of 69 runs between our Menika Darman and Susantha Cafoor we managed to reach 225/8. Cafoor top scored with an unbeaten 56 off just 52 balls.

Our bowlers kept things tight for the most part but really struggled in picking up wickets as we only managed to get their first wicket in the 25th over, and then just managed 3 more wickets despite containing them for 48 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Lanka Dandeniya with figures of 10-1-36-1.

It was a much improved batting performance against Bermuda as openers set the tone with a good start which the rest of the batters built on and set up a good total of 290/6. Top scorer was opener Arjuna Yapa with 77 and an unbeaten partnership of 57 from just 33 balls gave us a good finish.

Bowling performance started off similar to last game as we could not pick up a wicket till the 28th over this time, but bowlers really came to the party after that as they caused a collapse from 141/0 to 229 all out in just 17 overs. Maithripala Jayatilleke was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets and his unbeaten 43 off just 30 balls meant he is also the Player of the Day.

Game 4 and 5 reviews coming together as well.

Game 4 was played on Dry/Sunny conditions and Game 5 was played on Crumbling/Humid conditions.
Unlike the other 3 games our opponents won the toss both times and they both elected to bat first.

NZ got a brisk start and a good finish meant they ended up with 294/7. Rifan and Ambalangodage picked up 3 wickets each and in reply we could only manage 255/9 thanks to a heroic 123 not out from Chandraratna Dilruk who tried his level best to get us home but unfortunately he had no support from the other end as the next highest score for us was just 33. Dilruk is also our Player of the Day.

Much better bowling performance today but we still let WI get away initially as they started off with a 93 run opening partnership. We did manage to take some wickets eventually and WI ended up with 224/7, Dandeniya, Jeewantha, and Jayatilleke all managed to pick up 2 wickets each.

Our chase started poorly as we lost 2 wickets in 2 overs and were 4 down by the 16th over. We ended up 187 all out and it was only thanks to a 105 run 5th wicket partnership between Jifry (59) and Lakmini (68) that we even got somewhat close.
