unfortunate game one is the official way to put it I reckon.

5 in 10 chances taken for them.
3 in 9 for us.

5-119 for their spinners.
3-131 for ours.

Their number six bats at over a run-a-ball and smacks us out, our bats just shat the bed.

against the scots tomorrow- cloudy/slow- meh on the conditions but neither weather nor the pitches(not the three pitches I'd like but then getting 4 of the third choice as well) have helped us and the ME didn't either so I'm not looking forward to the week honestly, fingers crossed.

fairly disappointing tour with just two wins, but we head to division 3 with 9 points atleast with a familiar partner in promotions and demotions in South Africa. The nature of the losses against Ireland and Scotland was heavily disappointing, one that probably pushed us into demotion and propelled their net run rates into promotion territory, especially in the case of the Irish side.

If PowerBug was right, we leaked 75 more than we should have against Kenya to survive, so that can ease the tour a bit, but fairly disappointing first three games where nothing seemed to click. The bowling did not show up all week in my eyes even. T20 tour in week 8 up next.

West Indies NAT Season 53 Twenty-20 Tour Division 2: Squad Announcement
We will be heading to Sri Lanka in Week 8 and will be competing in the Division 2 Twenty-20 tour. Placed 12th after the previous season's promotion from Division 3, West Indies need one or two wins to qualify for the T20 World Cup during the End-of-Season after missing out on the previous season, with it also depending on other results across Divisions 2 and 3.

Ahmed Sencer Space Wolves Right-arm Medium/ Right-hand Bat

Alp Arslan Space Wolves Right-hand Bat

Cecil Griffith Caribbean Pirates Right-hand Bat

Chesney Persaud Never liked the name of my team Left-hand Bat

Colin Oscopy Middle Stump Lubricators Right-arm Fast

Don Carlo Gambino Murder Inc. Right-arm Wrist Spin

Dwayne Maynard De Houthakkers Left-arm Finger Spin

Gregory Farquharson Beiram's 11 Left-arm Fast

Lear Humphreys Walking Dead Left-hand Keeper Bat [DEBUT]

Michael Seaforth Crni Zmajevi Cricket Club Left-hand Keeper Bat

Nizam al-Mulk Space Wolves Right-hand Bat [DEBUT]

Ordelmo Watt Antiguan Golden Cats Right-arm Fast Medium/ Left-hand Bat

Oswald Cornwall Never liked the name of my team Right-arm Fast/ Right-hand Bat

Ryan Shallow Crni Zmajevi Cricket Club Left-hand Bat

Stephen Patrick Ashburn CC Left-arm Fast Medium

Walter Frederick Easier Said Than Run Right-hand Bat [DEBUT]

Wayne Ramjass Donna's Kebabs Right-arm Fast Medium

William Linton Ceylonian Blasters Right-hand Bat

West Indies will be facing the Kiwis, the Proteas, the Kenyans, the Americans and the hosts in the Sri Lankans on uneven, green and slow decks. 7 seamers including 1 medium pacer, 3 quicks and 3 fast-mediums have been picked alongside wristy Don Carlo Gambino and left-arm tweaker Dwayne Maynard. The tour begins right after the lads get over the hangover of the new year parties on January 2, 2023. Three debutants with a southpaw keeper-bat Lear Humphreys and a couple right-handed bats in Walter Frederick and Nizam al-Mulk.

The five fixtures for the tour will be:

January 2- United States of America- Slow Pitch match 6383335
January 3- New Zealand- Uneven Pitch match 6383342
January 4- Kenya- Green Pitch match 6383346
January 5- South Africa- Uneven Pitch match 6383345
January 6- Sri Lanka- Uneven Pitch match 6383338

Facing the Kiwis on uneven decks hasn't brought us memories that necessarily comprise as good with 4 losses on 4 uneven decks in the 4 Division 1 tours in the previous term. New format, new year and a new kiwi manager, god change that statistic, it makes me so mad lol.

Thanks for allowing us to tour your lads and cheers:)

Skipper: Is Edwin Layne's run in the squad likely over at this point? Potential that Eldine Jones will tour again? I've tracked the progress of this pair, inseparable from birth, for many seasons.

Edwin Layne- yes, he seems to have reached the end of the road unfortunately. Less about him, more about the fact that we have Carl Gall who is ready to tour as our finger-spinning all-rounder. Layne was acquired in the transitional phase between a couple rfs ars, and his captaincy had been a huge factor in that selection as well.

Eldine Jones- no. I reckon he has more games in him. He has always been a horses for courses kinda lad, so he'll come in when the pitches call for his services, so it'd be his misfortune to not get another game. Been there in the squad since the lad was 25 I reckon, been a solid lad for us.

match 6383335- West Indies vs United States of America

A decent win after losing the toss. Chesney Persaud's 60 off just 36 balls was a fantastic knock and Patrick picking two wickets in the first and the penultimate over was a fantastic addition. Defending 15 off 6 balls, Wayne Ramjass did not leak a single boundary in yet another impressive effort.

match 6383342- West Indies vs New Zealand- Hot/Uneven

big game, haven't beaten the kiwis on an uneven deck in quite the while

match 6383342- Cecil Griffith played a marvel of a knock in the 165 run chase but an unfortunate collapse saw us fail to chase that and the game ended in a dramatic tie with some praiseworthy exploits from Franklyn Kellett

match 6383346- Stephen Patrick got himself another player of the match award, his second for the tour with a fine performance against the Kenyans with the ball. A 157 run chase on a green deck was taken care of by two southpaws in Ryan Shallow and Michael Seaforth whilst Alp Arslan's final smashes took us over the line with a ball to spare.

10 points in three games look solid, and with the tie, we are likely out of the nrr blockhole, which is quite alright as our wins have been marginal.

match 6383345- the unbeaten proteas will be our next challenge on humid/uneven tomorrow and we'll face the hosts Sri Lanka on the final day of the tour.

match 6383345- a tough loss to the proteas as we were bundled out for 84. The chase took 15-odd overs and has hurt our net run rate which was shabby anyways due to minor victories to begin with.

match 6383338- hosts Sri Lanka will be our opponents for the final game on another uneven deck with complimenting humid weather

Two decent points of a positive note: We have confirmed qualifications for the T20 World Cup during the EOS. And, we have confirmed survival this tour as well.

Scenarios:
We need to beat the Lankans and hope Kenya beats the Kiwis I reckon. Kiwis have won big and lost small whereas we have won small and lost big so the net run rate gap will be hard to catch if either result does not go the way we'd want it to. Was hoping the tie would throw nrr out of the equation for us but instead it appears that nrr would show its ugly head and the Kiwis will be stealing the promotion off our hands with a mammoth and unfortunate collapse. Tough one, but we've been through a 50/1-64/8 collapse in a World T20 Final, so I'm numb to the pain now.

match 6383338- The tour wraps up with a complete team performance from the lads to overcome the Lankan hurdle.

We have survived Division 2 this tour, whilst only missing out on promotion on net run rate. The colossal collapse against the Kiwis in Game 2 cost us the promotion spot unfortunately.

The players with some commendable performances this tour include the likes of Cecil Griffith, Chesney Persaud, Stephen Patrick and Oswald Cornwall in particular.

We'll be facing United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Canada, Ireland and Pakistan next season in Twenty-20 Division 2.

We'll be facing Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia, Netherlands and United Arab Emirates in our group in the Twenty-20 World Cup.

We'll be facing South Africa, Netherlands, Pakistan, Bermuda and United States of America in Division 3 OD in a few weeks. https://www.fromthepavilion.org/leagueo ... 10157#curr

West Indies NAT Season 53 One Day Tour 3 Division 3: Squad Announcement
We'll be heading to South Africa for the second time this season, as the Proteas are hosting a One Day tour on uneven, hard and sticky pitches in the upcoming week. The eighteen lads that'll be touring include:

Abdul Hakim Murad Space Wolves Right-arm Wrist Spin/ Right-hand Bat [DEBUT]

Ahmed Sencer Space Wolves Right-arm Medium/ Right-hand Bat

Carlitos Wood Maiden Over CC Left-arm Fast Medium

Cecil Griffith Caribbean Pirates Right-hand Bat

Chesney Persaud Never liked the name of my team Left-hand Bat

Colin Mohan Groundboys Right-hand Bat

Colin Oscopy Middle Stump Lubricators Right-arm Fast

Gregory Farquharson Beiram's 11 Left-arm Fast

Hemnarine Daley Rostrevor XI Left-hand Keeper Bat

Michael Seaforth Crni Zmajevi Cricket Club Left-hand Keeper Bat

Nizam al-Mulk Space Wolves Right-hand Bat

Ordelmo Watt Antiguan Golden Cats Right-arm Fast Medium/ Left-hand Bat

Oswald Cornwall Never liked the name of my team Right-arm Fast/ Right-hand Bat

Ryan Shallow Crni Zmajevi Cricket Club Left-hand Bat

Stephen Patrick Ashburn CC Left-arm Fast Medium

Wayne Ramjass Donna's Kebabs Right-arm Fast Medium

William Linton Ceylonian Blasters Right-hand Bat

William Phillip Sofa King Right-hand Bat [DEBUT]

A couple debutants and a combination of 8 seam and 1 spin attack will be our carry-on to South Africa.

We have gotten a nice ratio of a couple hard decks, a couple uneven decks and one sticky deck but unfortunately the ordering of the pitches has been unfavourable.

The five fixtures for the tour will be:

January 23- South Africa- Hard Pitch match 6386070
January 24- Bermuda- Hard Pitch match 6386063
January 25- United States of America- Sticky Pitch match 6386071
January 26- Pakistan- Uneven Pitch match 6386068
January 27- Netherlands- Uneven Pitch match 6386075

The West Indies Seniors International Ground, named Space Wolves Arena to honour their Division 1 Victory in SOD's in the previous season has seen a change in the name of its ends to honour Queens Park Cricket Club and Mohito's Mohican XI for their success in the Matt Krevs Memorial Cup thus far, being the two Windies sides to stay alive the longest. Good luck to them today!

Thanks for allowing us to tour your players:)

A fairly disappointing tour, six World Cup qualification points a decent takeaway but reckon that was fairly it for us, as we are now against the wall in our next One Day Tour next season to promote for World Cup Qualification hopes.

match 6386070 versus South Africa- humid/hard
The quicks Colin Oscopy and Oswald Cornwall turned out to be the only shining lights on a humid day and a hard deck after we opted to bowl first as qualify fast-mediums failed to do any damage. Chasing 255, the three protean quicks were at their best, whilst their fast-medium had a much better day and we weren't able to get as many runs off their finger spinner as we should've been able to. Another disappointing statistic that we dropped their better bats whilst they dropped our tailenders, enraging haha

match 6386063 versus Bermuda- cloudy/hard
The Bermudan Openers carried them for a decent part, and managed to take them to a total of 206 with a 136 run opening stand. Stephen Patrick(lfm) improved on his performance from the first day but Oswald Cornwall(rf) went the other direction. Ofcourse then, the two Bermudan Spinners had shared figures of 11-1-51-2, so somedays the lord does just hate you I guess.

match 6386071 versus United States of America- sunny/sticky
Medium Pacer Ahmed Sencer impressed with a three-fer, whilst Colin Oscopy(rf) had 2 wickets to his name and so did Abdul Hakim Murad(rws, debutant). Cecil Griffith impressed with a fifty in the 122 run chase where we were able to get across the line despite a few hiccups at the end.

match 6386068 versus Pakistan- windy/uneven
Runs flew from Chesney Persaud's and William Linton's bat and the Windies total barely crossed 200. Two runouts of crucial players were the highlight with Chesney Persaud running out the sole half-centurion Sohail and Cecil Griffith running out all-rounder Azizullah Hussain six runs away from the target whilst he threatened to take the game away. Ordelmo Watt picking the last two catches, one at slip and the other at mid-on for a 5 run steal of a victory was a very picturesque ending to a tense game.

match 6386075 versus Netherlands- cloudy/uneven
Chesney Persaud starred with a fantastic 80 run knock and his heroic effort took the Windies total to 225. Ahmed Sencer's unbeaten 36 at a strike rate of 156 to finish things off did not go unnoticed as the lad has now announced his arrival at the big stage. Opener Jeremy McGovern played a lone fight with a 90 but the rest of the dutch lineup did not have as good days and Oswald Cornwall impressed with the three-fer.

Chesney Persaud and Cecil Griffith finished the tour as the fifth-highest run scorers with an identical 163 at an average of 40.75. Colin Oscopy with 8 wickets was yet again the pick of the bowlers. Abdul Hakim Murad also impressed with his 4 wickets at an average of 11 in his first two games.

Next One Day Tour sees the ranks of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe join us, USA, Pakistan and Netherlands in Season 54.

Up next would be the World T20.

Thanks yet again for allowing us to tour your lads:)
