SA National team S49

Post by Cjackson94 » Sat Sep 25, 2021 10:31 pm

Hey everyone,

Adding this topic in for the season. We have a new NAT manager in Jfam4 taking over from me, hopefully he can get us out of div 3.

I’ll still be here as an assistant to support Jfam, happy to continue giving updates on tours and friendlies.

Looking forward to the first tour, let’s make it a good one :thumbsup

Squad has been looked at and sorted out for the season. Jfam has brought in some exciting new players (highlighted in bold) and I did add a couple in the off season. Including a 25 year old bat! :o

30 players in the squad, plenty of young guys coming through looking really good.

Batsmen

Hashim Amla 29.12
Elton Deveraux 29.12
Steven Kaseke 28.02
Lucian La Licorne 28.00
Forward Mboyi 30.12
Pommy McPomface 25.01 (yes you read that correct )
Gerrit Neethling 29.01
Etienne Nomis 28.01
JJ Redick 28.11
Andre Uys 28.00
Michael van Straaten 31.01

So 3 new bats to the squad, Uys a finisher who will probably take the van Straaten role in a seasons time. Kaseke has high tech and is a skilled bat so look forward to seeing him play. McPomface will probably play a lot of games for SA. Already at 25k wage and climbing. Probably a season off touring but he has the potential to be a god!

Wicket keepers

Deon Gessner 27.13
Allen seccull 28.00
Oliver Tsvangirai 27.11

Tsvangirai is new he looks pretty solid, I did have him in the squad last season in the early stages but felt he wasn’t ready yet, he is looking much stronger now. We have 3 relatively young keepers now that Rundell has retired so should get a fair few games out of them. Seccull has already proven to be a reliable keeper.

Allrounders

Klippies Hodgetts 31.01 rm
Nelie McPherson 29.10 rfs
Ben Simmons 28.10 rws
Horace O’Brien 28.03 rfs

Allrounders are looking good for another season. The big 3 will probably make each tour. Horace is a bit behind but hopefully a good season of training will get him to the right level.

Fast bowlers

Tshedi Mutizwa 28.11 rf
Derek Vernon 28.01 rf
Heath Frankish 26.02 rfm
Joseph Makunra 31.02 rfm
Mlungusi Nkandu 28.06 rfm
Drikus Hahn 28.02 rfm
Gerhard Schwarz 29.01 lm

Relatively young pace attack, mutizwa and Makunra will be key again but now some of the younger pacer have more exp and are looking good.

Spin bowlers

Vaughn Barnard 29.12 rfs
Cain Valesquez 30.00 rfs
Babu Goche 29.13 rws
Wikus Howell 30.08 rws
Frederick De Villiers 27.10 rws

Some great spin bowlers in there. All performed well over the last couple of seasons. A new wristy that is up incoming and looking good.

We are pretty happy with the squad and looking forward to the first tour. Let’s make it a good one :thumbsup
