PSL 12: The Final Ratings in Review

Hello everybody! Yes, I have returned with the final ratings review. I apologize for the wait but I was perfecting techniques for a particularly intense session of kegel exercises (no, they're not just for women... >.>). The pelvic performance of your beloved match referee aside- what a PSL final we witnessed! Quetta Gladiators rising from the ashes to ascend to PSL glory. Quite a turnaround by the franchise. In the end, it was another instance of a franchise peaking at the right time. However, that didn't keep them from one overrating breach. Luckily for Quetta, they did enough in the other matches to secure the victory.
Here is the overview (Platinum and YOD 1 not included as they are 'free' categories):

Image

Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators:

The Gladiators took an early 2-1 lead against the Kings and both franchises will have been looking at YOD 3 as a key fixture before the final day commenced. Hence, it would have been particularly frustrating for Quetta to have an overrating in such an important match. The contest went to 2-2 and allowed Karachi a reprieve. However, Karachi went on to lose all the remaining matches.
YOD 3: United XI (MOD-quirkilyalive) vs Sherlocked12 (SherlockHolmes)
The PSL has often shown us that some of the most nail biting encounters occur in the lower categories. This fixture was a perfect example of that. It was a very closely fought affair that ended in a 1 wicket victory for Sherlocked12. However, the ratings showed that both teams had made an effort to get close to the YOD 3 ceiling. Alas, Sherlocked12 overshot it by just 558. A heartbreaking result for old Holmes, especially after such a close battle. Even Dr. Watson shed a tear...
Well that does it for this edition of the PSL! It was an engaging seven weeks of competitive matches which saw fortunes swing before Quetta conquered the odds to win the title. Well played to Karachi Kings as well who had their own comeback story in the semi-finals and put together some good performances. As far as ratings go, we had some breach heavy rounds. However, we also saw two rounds where not a single team went over the limit. It has been a while since we saw that. Hopefully a trend going into PSL 13. To conclude, I hope you've enjoyed reading these reviews and the snapshots of how the teams fared. We'll be back next edition.

Addendum:

Final Random Moose Fact: Moose are ruminants. This means that they have a compartmentalized stomach and can 'store' large amounts of the food they eat. This saved up food can then be regurgitated and re-chewed for better digestion. Fascinating when moose do it- not so much when you do it. And no, the waitress won't find it any less repulsive if you explain how it works...

Great write-ups as always by TDC and MrMoose, and thanks to Shazaday11 as well for being the PSL Manager.

PSL 13 will be played in the T20 format in keeping with our new policy of alternating formats, and we are also open to all feedback on the current edition and any suggestions for next time.

For knockouts we can try the semi-final system that some people recommended, where we have 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4 but both 1 and 2 get to choose their own pitches.

Thanks for organizing once again champs. The league is building up quite a bit of history now.

As for the format, I'm fine with continuing the semi-final system.

Group Stages - Semi-Final (1v3, 2v4) - Final

No. 1 and 2 at the end of the group stages get some sort of a benefit for the finals (also prefer choice of pitch rather than a free point as you know).
