Re: U20 Discussion & Announcements
Game 1 vs USA on a Crumbling pitch with Hot conditions expected.
USA won the toss and elected to bowl first.
1st Innings:
Sent in to bat by USA, Pakistan found themselves in early trouble, losing opener H.Abbas and F.Mirza with just 8 runs on the board. Debutant R.Fazal 70 (95) and F.Asad 63 (89) rescued the innings, combining for a crucial 100+ run stand that gave Pakistan much needed stability. Fazal’s composed knock, consisting of 8x4’s & 1x6 earned him high praise, while Asad brought up his 3rd 50 in just 8 matches, continuing his strong form.
As the pair departed, skipper A.Hamid stepped up with a counterattacking 57 (55). However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered under intense pressure from USA’s bowlers, particularly T.Pacheco 4/44, who ran through the lower order. Pakistan lost their last 5 wickets in under 4 overs, eventually being bowled out for 233 in 49.5 overs.
2nd innings:
USA began their chase on a promising note, with openers R.Anderson (17) and N.Navarro (10) scoring briskly. However, pacer H.Sami 3/40 quickly pegged them back, removing both openers within the first 9 overs. WS H.Murad then struck to dismiss R.Jensen, leaving the visitors at 40/3.
A resilient stand between D.Pacheco 51 (93) and V.Todd 52 (52) reignited hopes as they put on a 82 run partnership. However, Murad returned for a game changing spell. Murad’s variations dismantled the USA middle & lower order, with surgical precision. Finishing with figures of 5/29 as USA were bowled out for 167 in 41.1 overs.

Re: U20 Discussion & Announcements
Game 2 vs Scotland on an Uneven surface in continuing Hot conditions.
Scotland won the toss and elected to bat first.
1st Innings: Scotland 258/5 in 50 overs
Unsurprisingly choosing to bat first in hot conditions, Scotland hoped to make the Pakistan bowlers toil. Despite an early wicket by quick Haseeb Sami, an 89 run partnership between Kirk Irving and Steve Spoogemeister achieved that goal. Scotland had gotten off to a steady, if not overly fluent start and had built upon it in the middle phase, looking for acceleration at the finish. Sami returned with two more wickets and leggie Manzoor Niazi chipped in with one. While wickets had not come easily, the bowling attack had kept their discipline.
As such, at the 42 over mark Scotland's score stood at 185/4 at a run rate of 4.4. They needed a strong finish and finisher Jesse Ryder provided them with exactly that, smashing 46 runs off just 29 deliveries to take the final score past 250. According to reports, a previously worried Scotland coach was so excited by the knock that he got light headed and had to be told to sit and calm down.
2nd Innings: Pakistan 259/5 in 47.4 overs
Pakistan began their chase in a similar fashion in the first 10 overs, scoring 50 runs with just the one wicket lost. However, the Scotland bowlers fought back with two more wickets with the score standing at 114/3 right before the halfway mark. Opener Hannan Abbas had remained defiant and he found an eager partner in middle order bat Tanveer Stankzai. The pair combined in a crucial 72 run partnership which ensured that the chase was steadied and momentum was rebuilt. Abbas was fluent and assured for his 83 off 88 deliveries while Stankzai chose to let his arms loose, clobbering 83 off 73 deliveries.
Although Abbas departed, Stankzai remained, ensuring that Pakistan stayed ahead of the run rate required and guiding the chase home with his unbeaten knock. After the winning runs had been hit, the Pakistan coach was seen coming out to the ground in order to shake Stankzai's hand, albeit while using military grade nose plugs.

Game 3 vs Zimbabwe on a Dry pitch with Hot conditions expected.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first.
First Innings: Pakistan 316/6 off 50 overs
Electing to bat first, Pakistan got off to a flying start as openers R.Fazal 70 (73) and H.Abbas 53 (58) smashed their second consecutive fifties, building a solid 125 run partnership. Fazal’s brisk knock featured 3x4’s and a six, while Abbas provided stability with 4x4’s and 2x6’s. The dismissal of both openers and F.Mirza (1) in quick succession brought the innings to a brief halt at 130/3, with Zimbabwe’s M.Carragher (3/43) leading the fightback.
However, captain A.Hamid 67 (69) and F.Asad 71 (76), also notching consecutive fifties, rebuilt with a brilliant 133 run partnership for the 4th wicket with the latter hitting 4x4’s and a six. A late surge from M.Ashraf 24* (13) ensured Pakistan reached a challenging 316/6 in their 50 overs, with J.Veletta 10-0-102-1, bearing the brunt of the onslaught.
Second Innings: Zimbabwe 193 all out off 42 overs
Zimbabwe’s chase began on a shaky note, with M.Ashraf 3/53 striking early to remove opener S.Ndlovu for just 4. The visitors showed resilience through M.Mash 84 (95) and captain A.Wylie 39 (63), who stitched together a fighting 104 run stand. Mash, anchoring the innings with 8x4’s, appeared to keep Zimbabwe in the hunt.
Enter debutant M.Kirmani, the LFS turned the match decisively in Pakistan’s favour, dismantling Zimbabwe’s middle order with a remarkable spell of 4/41. Kirmani claimed the crucial wickets of Wylie, Mash, and Pritchard 21 (19), as Zimbabwe lost their last 8 wickets for just 61 runs. R.Munir 1/19 and A.Bashir 1/18 provided excellent support, while Ashraf returned to clean up the tail. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 193 in 42 overs, falling well short of the target.

Game 4 vs Netherlands on a Crumbling pitch with Hot conditions expected.
Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat first.
First Innings: Netherlands 223/4 off 50 overs
Opting to bat first, the Dutch struggled early as they lost S.Rutgers 12 (17) in the powerplay. J.Brentjens 53 (89) and Q.Kruijswijk 59 (95) played patient innings, forming a 92 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Brentjens anchored one end with 4x4’s and 1x6, while Kruijswijk rotated the strike.
The innings gained late momentum through J.Vermeulen’s unbeaten 55* (63) and C.van Tuyll’s quick 38 (37). However, a tight bowling display from H.Murad 2/38 and I.Jilani 1/32 restricted the Netherlands to 223/4 in their 50 overs.
Second Innings: Pakistan 224/5 off 48 overs
Chasing 224, Pakistan’s start was shaky, T.Stankzai 15 (31) fell early, followed by captain S.Ul-Haq 34 (53), who failed to convert his solid start. Wickets continued to tumble as M.Hamza 38 (53) and F.Asad 6 (10) departed in quick succession, leaving Pakistan at 112/4 in the 27th over.
The pressure mounted, but F.Mirza 50 (58) and N.Nath 56* (63) stepped up. Both players, who had endured inconsistent form earlier in the tour, delivered when it mattered most. Their 76 run partnership for the 5th wicket put Pakistan back on track. Mirza’s fluent innings, featuring 4x4’s and 2x6’s, was instrumental in breaking the shackles.
After Mirza’s departure, Nath and H.Sami 17* (22) guided Pakistan home in tense fashion, aided by a few dropped catches in the dying stages, ensuring victory with two overs to spare.
