Relegation reprobates Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 14,316 14,004
Batting - Middle Order 13,599 10,215
Batting - Tail 6,284 5,000

Bowling - Spin 14,472 (8) 14,326 (12)
Fielding/Keeping 17,261 16,905
Overall 250,670 234,234

Ruff Royals won by 10 wickets

A 10 wicket win makes it look like we won at a canter but it was an extremely close game. We got over the finishing line after needing 16 from the last over with me thinking that we had scored too slowly and blown our chances of picking up all 4 points.

With 5 players away with various international teams, I thought this was going to be the week where we dropped to level on points with 2nd place Egham. Things started great with a wicket for Zondeki off the first ball of the innings. It was tough after that but we restricted them to an okay total of 150. Iwas worried about the batting as that was where we were most hit by players away but Laurence and Durham were magnificent. Laurence ended with 62 not out from 51 balls and Durham had 86 not out from 69 balls.

2nd placed Egham next week in a match which could go someway to deciding who is going to lift the title.

ME all over the place. Twice when chasing we needed <6 an over, and lost two wickets with consecutive balls, second occurrence we only needed 26 from 33 balls! Fortunately Tampling got us home with some big hitting once the tail was exposed.

Win today secured at least 3rd place. A win next week should secure 2nd place.

Visited wolfberries today and knocked out a rather lacklustre win. I'm scratching my head trying to think of any standouts. We posted 204-5 in our innings, then more or less contained the lupine ones until our two OBBs came on to wrap things up. The oppo got within spitting distance, but were down to their pimply teenagers at the last, so 'twas not to be. I can't remember the last time we managed to bowl a team out, but thank gawd we have a strong batting and fielding lineup - despite the ratings, we tend to win by attrition rather than in style.

Still, 4 points keeps us on top, but with a mediocre NRR, and with a pack of three teams just 4 points behind, it's still anyone's league.

Kutty's 53 for us was the best in a modest total of 196 on a slow pitch. Sadly, we also didn't bowl well enough with my spin allrounder Needham being particularly expensive.

On the plus side, survival is now guaranteed.

Dickerson was stunning with the bat to get 99 on a crumbling pitch and it's a big shame that he didn't get to his century. We only scored 168 so I wasn't sure that it would be enough for the win. It was a good team bowling and fielding performance though and we managed to pick up the win. 3-26 for Delap was the best for the bowlers.

We're 10 points clear with 3 games to go so 1 more win will do it. I'm very happy with the ratings considering I've got 5 players missing.

Had our usual collapse when under no run rate pressure (138-1 needing 1.8 an over became 174-6) but occurred late enough that we still managed to chase the modest 176 put on by Hotspurs. Fast Bowler Abbas had his best performacne so far with 19-4. We maintain 2nd place for now....

I wasn't expecting victory today, but then again I did select a crumbling wicket which is my choice when I need an upset.

I decided that we were going to finish in 3rd this season so I might as well not pick my best batter to give a younger player experience. Afterwards, I realised that I can't count and we're not guaranteed 3rd after all! :doh Thankfully, I'm still not too worried about possibly dropping a little bit of prizemoney.

My spin stocks aren't high at the minute so crumbling was a good option for you. My new spin bowling youth pull this week is going to be useful going forward.

Congrats on the well deserved win. :)

Home Ruff Royals
Away Egham Town CC
Ground Ruff Royals CG
League Twenty20 1.1
Date 04 Feb 25 10:00
Crowd 21,822
Weather Hot
Pitch Even

A huge game today against 2nd place. A win and we're 8 points clear with 2 games to go. A loss and it's all down to NRR.

Fortune favors Qasim as the call of heads rings true, earning them a win at that toss. With a decisive choice to bat, the anticipation builds, and Egham Town CC is on the brink of launching into their innings.

I would have bowled first anyway although I wouldn't really have minded batting either.

Overall 251,730 251,847

Egham Town CC won by 7 runs

A bit disappointing as we seemed to be chasing the 196 to win okay and then we just slowed down for 2 overs with only 7 from them. That made it very difficult and we couldn't catch up to the run rate again.

The best performances for us today were Patterson with 3-21, 82 not out from Schmidt, and 61 from House.

We're now level on points at the top with Egham but behind on NRR. It looks like we've got the harder fixtures left too.

A 3-wicket over by Van Schoonhooven sealed the deal after scoring a decent but not great total. Win confirms second place, and a surprising loss from Topmen mean we are theoreticaly still in with an outside chance of promotion.

A nice 69 for Dennehy and 47 for Laurence rescued us from a precarious 103-4 as we posted a decent total of 266 on a green pitch. Westerveld picked up 4-20 as we kept things tight enough to pick up the wickets towards the end.

That secures promotion to Div 1. :party
