Overall 237,269 213,990

We won with about 4 overs to spare. The batting was quite comfortable with Bullock scoring 56 from 43 balls and House 40 not out from 31 balls.

We're still going to be 4 points clear. Next week could be tough as it's international week and we'll be missing a couple of players whilst wolfberries won't be missing anyone.

Played a very much second XI today and lost, was looking good with two overs to go and six wickets in hand but we bottled it!

Bowlers performed well, especially all-rounder Mansfield who took 3/17. Crucial win if we are to avoid relegation, and the size of the win helps reverse the NRR hit we took in the last match. Unfortunately starting to really struggle with fatigue in the squad now, with an important one-day match and a MKMC tie still to come this week, and another important T20 tie next week.

We're off to a good start at the halfway stage -

1st vs 2nd today and both of us are unbeaten, not the worst total but since the changes we aren't completely out of the game. We have played two of our three very young guns today which means our batting is slightly weaker than it could be, hopefully this won't comeback to haunt us.

That score was too much for the oppo. Despite a breezy start (71-0 at the end of the twelfth), once our spinners came on, the runs were hard to come by. They fell 62 runs short at the close, although batted out their overs with a wicket to spare. Another solid win sees us 4 points clear at the top of 2.1.

The ratings -

Match Ratings
The Raging Speed Horns St. Marks Hill Strollers
Batting - Top Order 7,463 7,434
Batting - Middle Order 5,384 4,929
Batting - Tail 3,666 3,381
Bowling - Seam 7,112 (16) 6,253 (24)
Bowling - Spin 5,909 (24) 7,098 (16)
Fielding/Keeping 8,042 8,251
Overall 118,465 117,310

We're still a way off being a good team, and the spin bowling is mediocre at the moment, plus, we lose our best bowler to the seniors next week. How long, or even if, we can stay top, I don't know. But we do have some strong players coming up the ranks, and things can change quickly at youth level - so fingers crossed...

Of course, our first YOD win of the season comes against the side that's top of the league. Sadly, all the others towards the bottom of the league also won so I'm still in 7th place.

I thought they had got far too much as they scored 257 on an uneven pitch. Howe (92 not out) and Galindo (94 not out from 75 balls) were excellent though and saw us through to victory whilst we only lost 2 wickets.

The Raging Speed Horns vs Pedagogs
League One Day 1.1

Weather Cloudy
Pitch Sticky

Early days yet in the league, but we really need to start performing - we've been punching below our weight in the last two games. Thusfar I've kinda been all guns blazing; today I've been a little less gung ho with the orders -

End of over 14 (1 run) - The Raging Speed Horns(53-1) RR 3.79

and ... as I type (how many bloody times does that happen?) a wicket falls. Nonetheless, a reasonably solid start, but this is a sticky so...

End of over 36 (2 runs) - The Raging Speed Horns(155-5) RR 4.31

35.6 1 W Coverdale to Gatehouse : [runout]
P. Labyrinth run out (K. Sharman) 85 (116b 7x4 2x6) SR:73.28

A run out?!

Very annoyed with that - no pressure - Labyrinth sailing along, anchoring the innings, and the match engine throws a dumb spanner in the works.

Poo :P

End of over 46 (1 run) - The Raging Speed Horns(192-10) RR 4.17

Yeah - I reckon that stupid run out cost us a good 20-30 runs - wickets fell at regular intervals after Labyrinth's departure. I wouldn't call it a cast iron score (I was hoping for 220+), but it should be challenging for the oppo (I know I wouldn't want to be chasing 193 on a sticky!).
