Senior development

Post by Madcarrot » Mon Jan 22, 2024 10:08 am

This is the place where we will post our squads for the the lower age groups.

A NAT squad consists of 30 players, and each assistant has been assigned a junior squad of different age groupings to make a 30 man squad.

This will help us to see what our strengths and weaknesses will be in the future, but it will also be a way for managers with high level players to see if their player is on our future plans.
There is no guarantee that a player who makes a junior squad will go on to play NAT's in the future.

It will be an opportunity for managers with quality Zimbabwe players to see if their player is in our plans for the future or not.

At the moment we have 3 teams each monitored by an assistant and they will strive to have them updated at eos and around week 8. Between tours we will try to arrange friendlies with other NAT teams with prizes for the best performing Zimbabwean players.

U27 - Madcarrot (temporarily)
U25 - jellis24
U23 - ss888

If you have a question regarding a player that fits within a certain age grouping please message the appropriate manager or post the question here in the forums.

Great work Madcarrot! Always good to have an eye out for the future. Any views on Teboho Kamungozi? He has already played Nats (I suspected at the time he wasn't ready). Do you think he is going to be in the squad any time soon?

I don't think Teboho would be too far from the u27 squad. We are looking for spec fielding and excep tech ideally before getting into the main squad.
He's a good player and OBB is my favourite talent so hopefully won't be too far away.

Maybe was picked slightly early but got 4 wickets at 6.5 in his two games to be our best bowler that tour.

Sadly since then instead of training primaries you went to training strength which was a poor move as he’s been stuck on spectacular technique and still only exceptional summary bowling (was exceptional summary bowling when he played nats two seasons ago). Still a great player, but poor training has meant he should be world class summary bowling with a double talent by now so that’s very disappointing.

Ahh yes, training an all-rounder to accomplished power - what a waste of time! Thanks for not giving training advice at the time, as I would have ignored it!

Alright guys that's enough let's have positive vibes only in here.

Both of you got some really good players coming through the ranks I'm excited to see how they turn up and contribute to Zimbabwe's story.

You don’t have to take my advice. Look how CalZim or Kent International train their players. You could learn a lot. You’ve trained him like a Div 2 team and you’ll end up with a Div 2 standard finger spinner with low primaries. Power is completely wasted on someone like him at his age. What a fail. Carrots done the right thing dumping from squad with that failed training :clap

He’ll be a great player for you in Div 2 tho

Apologies Carrot. You’re doing a great job and showing that you deserved the position. I’m just disappointed when quality potential players in Zimbabwe are ruined by poor training.

Positive vibes from here out

It's alright, at the end of the day everyone is free to train their own players to fit the needs of their club.
