As I said the opening spell was great economy wise. Its a tactic that isn't used much and worthy of comment. My idea of opening with a spinner is not about economy but more about taking wickets, preferably all before a big score is reached. I meant no animosity, just commented that it didn't pay off.

Did consider playing the other FS (our 4th spinner on tour) but unfortunately he is only Reliable summary so didn't really feel it a wise move having him bowl against Expert+ batsmen. He will have to play tomorrow of course but hopefully against lesser batsmen than on a 1st game of a tour. He is our only other spinner so kinda had no choice than to play those 2 LWS. Overall I think the bowling was good despite not taking regular wickets but I put that down to the 6 dropped catches during vital partnerships, whereas during our batting innings we had no real partnerships of any meaning leaving too much to do for the lower order and thus falling just short

Better luck in game 2. Although Netherlands look to be favourites for this tour.

as the owners of both finger spinners on tour, i can confirm that for these guys to constantly be considered to best of thew age group certainly sets us back.

Healey would normally be at beast your 3rd best FS, that you bring along on spinning friendly tours as a 4th/5th spinner who can bat a bit
Shezi is an all rounder who at 19 probably plays a valuable role next season but him being our 2nd FS this year is quite scary

in saying all that, i also agree that really bowling wasn't the main issue, 235 on sunny/dry when we have some very good bats was very chaseable

He will be better next year when he is actually better then most players, right now he is still fairly similar to a lot of the 20yos

Netherlands was always going to be a tough match to win. We had a high total to chase and unfortunately some late chasing wasn't enough. Pakistan up next giving us a good opportunity to get 4 points.

S. Barlas (lm) 8-0-39-0, C. Kimmince 15 (19b), D. Pamenter 43 (38b)
End of over 45 (6 runs) - South Africa U20(185-6) RR 4.11
We have managed a reasonable score. Kusano was disappointing again and I think Madden got the fright of his life opening the batting. Hopefully he will be more relaxed when it comes to him bowling.
We look to be going alright this match.

227 is an excellent score in those conditions, expect you to be able to defend that

I'm never confident these days. Relieved to get a win on the board though

Kusano was disappointing again...
He is certainly outshining himself on this tour with his reliable form! :think
Certainly been disappointing so far but he will play the last match so still can redeem himself with a big innings
