Re: Under 19 Matters

Post by boscorp » Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:13 pm

I started july 2011 and my brother, hanajack july 2008. I reached SOD 2 march 2013 (season 19/20), hovered in Div 3 and made my move to SOD 1 at the end of season 41. I have a ground capacity of 18500 which I just sold out in last game.
Senior Academy is excellent and junior non existent. In the past I had superior for seniors and lavish for juniors. I was mainly home grown for many seasons and able to survive. When I decided to have a go at div1 I ditched the juniors and the homegrown concept. An unsatisfying decision I made when I was considering quitting. I also have a supporter base of 2224.
I will likely reinvest in the youth academy next season and concentrate on them once again that everyone is in lower divs.
It is a long term game that can be played with a lot of different strategies, some of which can be short term. Theres many levels to rate your success by, its not all about winning div1. It can be whatever your goal is, winning U20, T20, being home grown, the richest or having the most rep players. For me, I think I prefer the development of the U20 players in the future.

Good luck for the tour. Dry and crumbling wickets will be painful, but with the player experience advantage promotion is within our sights.

Was desperately hoping for at least 1 Slow pitch for the tour, thus the mediums, but we have Dry, Dry, Crumbling, Crumbling, Dry

Last tour starts soon and we look to have the advantage in the first game. Kusano looks in fine form for the opening match. Good Luck guys.

A. Berger (lws) 10-1-43-2, M. Frank 17 (10b), L. van der Linde 4 (4b)
End of over 50 (8 runs) - Zimbabwe U20(235-6) RR 4.70
Not a bad bowling performance. Now the batsmen need to do their job

considering our performances this season I am really surprised at us opening with a spin bowler in our first match. I have not seen much of that in this competition with any success.

His opening spell was 1 for 7 off 3 overs, is that not a good enough opening spell for you?? I honestly don't think it would matter what tactics we used, yourself and HB wouldn't approve simply because it's not you in charge

oh please. don't start with that blaming stuff again.
Its a fair observation. Its an unorthodox tactic and you would have to be stupid to think no one would question it. He did bowl well in his spell which is great.
Bowling with the New Ball
When a cricket ball is new, bowlers can usually extract more bounce, seam movement and swing. This generally equates to a higher chance of bowling a wicket taking delivery for seam bowlers. As the ball ages, it loses its shine and hardness and batting generally becomes easier.
This is also the case in From the Pavilion. With this in mind, it is generally a good idea to open the bowling with your faster bowlers, as they will receive the most assistance from the pitch at the start of the innings.
As a general rule, it is usually wise to avoid opening the bowling with your spinners, as spin bowlers usually find it more difficult to grip and spin the new ball.

Hard to deny the 1-7 off 3 but lets leave the accusations out please, would prefer a more pleasant atmosphere around here, as it has been of late
