Keeper is probably best. My main issue with that is game time as I have my current 18yo keeper I'd like to play as much as much as possible.

I suspect I'll end up training him as a keeper but still letting him have some game time as a batsman.

That sounds completely fine. It is not a must that he has to be included in your lineup this season already. His batting still needs some improvement to be useful so best to stick with your current 18yo as he is already a strong U19 candidate.

Very nice recruit right there LukeD, he will be a monster!

My recruits were unimpressive, probably because of getting in just that minute too late after all the others got theirs.

is it really first come first serve? or is the RNG just more generous first up :think

It does feel as if the RNG is more generous first up, but that will just be imaginary.

I have tried various approaches over the years where nothing really made a difference.

What has made a noticeable difference for me though was increasing my YA to deluxe level.

is it me or is the pool for captains drying up? if thats the case Shingayi Dabengwa could be a good long term Senior Prospect for your club.
Natural leader and end up being a big hitting late innings keeper-bat

You are spot on about the captaincy.

My current main club senior captain was an accomplished. There are three others who are/were also accomplished with another three being reliable. Main youth squad has one accomplished captain and three capables.

My affiliate senior captain was a reliable with three others also being reliable. The youth squad has one accomplished and four more reliable.

I had 2 outstanding captains previously with my main team, but I cannot say now exactly where they started, though I am quite sure they were there to begin with and it was more than 6 years ago when they were recruited.

Dabengwa will purely be developed as a batsman. I have a better 16yo that is being developed as a keeper. Since he is part of my affiliate he will be sold at a later stage, but he will be developed with senior NAT in mind.

IF it is the case that something was done intentionally it would be genuis. it will place more value on captaincy as in real live where the captain of teams are often not the in form or even best players in their positions thus adding more value to captaincy. I dont think it is and I think you guys have bad luck with pulling them.

I also still dont know to what extend captaincy effects performance of a team and from previous captaincy conversations it would seem that experience has a large part to play in captaincy being effective. IE a accomplished captain with outstanding experience could be better than an outstanding captain with accomplished experience. But the exact effect is unknown to as mere mortals.

Captaincy gives a small boost in the fielding, not much else from what I understand
And that is as a layman as I haven't delved into that side of the game yet
I would like to have some secrets, mind you so maybe just leave that to the tech team

Yes... some time ago when ASh introduced the captains tab on the team selector screen it sorted it by captaincy effectiveness and not captaincy alone. He changed it pretty quickly and the questions was answered by "Good Question" LOL
