E. Peden (rf) 4-0-30-2, P. Pope 8 (13b), D. Mutua 27 (28b)
End of over 11 (16 runs) - Danger Hotspurs(59-4). 67 runs required from 9 overs. RR 5.36 RRR 7.44
10.6 4 Peden to Mutua : Edged through the slips for a boundary. The ball flew off the outside edge at catching height, but McGhee looked frozen in time as the ball flew past him.
10.5 4 Peden to Mutua : Bouncer, Mutua hooks it away for four.
10.5 nb4 Peden to Mutua : Much too full from Peden and easily driven on the off side for four.

As I said we need these out ASAP!

D. Vettori (lfs) 2-0-9-0, C. Rivas 1 (3b), B. Kirk 17 (19b)
End of over 16 (6 runs) - Ruff Royals(75-5). 33 runs required from 4 overs. RR 4.69 RRR 8.25

We need a miracle now, especially when my bowler decides to get a single off the last ball of the over to retain the strike. Having said that, I'm not sure if we can afford to turn down runs so maybe he did the right thing.

Edit: My batsman did manage to get the strike in that over and promptly got out.

Match Ratings
Heriots Hurricanes South London's Number One CC
Batting - Top Order 12,461 11,309
Batting - Middle Order 9,185 9,192
Batting - Tail 3,703 4,046
Bowling - Seam 12,746 (12) 10,472 (8)
Bowling - Spin 10,319 (8) 11,572 (12)
Fielding/Keeping 12,655 13,433
Overall 194,539 190,107

result: lost by 6 wickets. Not a great performance, we barely scraped past the 100 mark in our innings which was never going to be competitive. The one big positive was a decent score (44) for my new young bat which was pleasing to see. Now thinking I should have chucked it lol as the fatigue is gonna be through the roof now, but hey it's always easy in hindsight!

Much needed win as this season is going to be hard!

Pedagogs won by 11 runs.

Pedagogs Ruff Royals
Batting - Top Order 13,197 13,468
Batting - Middle Order 11,443 8,789
Batting - Tail 6,394 4,651

Bowling - Spin 11,707 (4) 12,678 (4)
Fielding/Keeping 15,837 16,265
Overall 227,278 218,554

Batsmen just not good enough to make it.

While I'm still 4 points from safety I think I'll keep trying to save myself from relegation. If it gets any more than that then I think I'll focus on SOD.

We appear to be in similar positions except I'm in division 2.

You seem to need a decent all rounder in my opinion.

Congrats Wolfy - Perhaps I should have gone the whole hog and played a full team of youngsters..... I hoped to have enough but my spinners just didn't do well enough in ideal conditions for them.

Yeah, trying to find an allrounder that is both good enough and not ridiculously expensive has been tough. I been looking for a few season's and not really found anyone that's particularly taken my fancy. I've got a 22-year-old that might be alright although I'm slightly worried that I've spent too long getting his batting up (through allrounder training) and that I might have been better off going bowling/bowling tech earlier.

Also, I've tried having 3 allrounders (around the time you won those titles) and it wasn't very successful so I thought going to the other extreme wouldn't be any worse. In fairness, it probably hasn't been worse but my other players lack a bit of the quality that I had back then and I probably had more strength in depth then too.

Home Danger Hotspurs
Away Ruff Royals
Ground White Hot Lane
League Youth 1.1
Date 16 Jan 20 10:00
Crowd 9,305
Weather Windy
Pitch Green

We were made to bat and I'm happy with how we've been going. We need a good score because I'm not sure how well my bowlers are going to do. The weather tempted me to only play 2 seamers.

A. Chellaiah (rfs) 5-0-27-2, S. Hodges 3 (5b), E. McCall 89 (103b)
End of over 33 (3 runs) - Ruff Royals(183-3) RR 5.55

We've just lost Clarke for 41. I'm crossing my fingers that McCall gets to a deserved century and that we can push into the mid 200s.

Do you have any youth all rounders that you plan on promoting to seniors?

This is my 22-year-old but there's a lot of work still to do on him (too much?) and I feel he needs game time too.

Hodges will be getting promoted at the end of the season so if I can get an older allrounder then great but if not I'll just have to be patient.
